I was on an international trip and asked someone late 50's and from S. Africa if they were familiar with Led Zeppelin.
They were not. At all.
I thought to myself, "how could this be?". Zero awareness of who Led Zeppelin is.
Then, I considered the context and location of their life. No awareness of Led Zeppelin IV. Wow.
While this does not explain math education, I type it to reflect on context, location (ie, perspectives) and how different they may be from "average". It matters. May not agree (at all), but it opened my eyes to at least explain why.

I don’t know what advanced, arithmetic or mathematical philosophies ever emerged out of Africa or Latin America.

Data doesn’t matter for these “lived experiences” obsessed fricks. In fact, they claim objectivity is impossible via empirical research. All we have are frameworks to broadcast marginalized voices as an effort to disrupt structural power systems of oppression.

White heterosexual conservatives males are not going into these inner city schools and teaching math to these kids. It’s mostly black women who got their teaching degrees from schools like Southern and SUNO.
