For the professional, white collar types, when is a beard unprofessional for you?

I just was told by our quasi HR that my beard “needed attention.”

Pissed me off to say the very least ….

Beards are always welcome short or long, just clean up your neck or you’ll look like a homeless man

How white collar and how unkempt?

If you’re at Bain with a special forces beard, yeah it’s going to be odd

Great question! Thank You!

While I can’t speak to any specific company policy regarding an optimized grooming cadence, I’d strongly encourage you to operationalize a regular trim cycle moving forward. In the grand scheme of things it low-hanging fruit in terms of basic personal hygiene.

But for now — let’s put a pin in this conversation and revisit in our next strategic touchpoint.

I’ve never had an issue with either my goatee, or presently my “Soul patch”…

Beards are for Jesus, priates and those that can't stomach to look at themselves in mirror every AM while shaving.

Sad that you soys grow a patchy beard to look “manly” when you could lift weights and stop drinking corn syrup and get a strong jaw like a real man

Ive had mine down to my chest before and was never told anything. I also have shoulder length hair. Im in industrial construction management. Its not uncommon to see some long beards at work.

When it is unkempt --- no need to present like some burned out hippie/yippe/beatnik from the Flower Power Age....and that includes hair growth - spend a handful of dollars at the barber shop
