At this point I'd be willing to pay a toll in order to get across the river within 5mins as opposed to the 30mins it takes now
You can do it now, but you have to go through Pointe Coupee Parish.

This story seems like something sent out by the government to test how stupid we are and what we’ll believe and to see what they can get away with telling us. I don’t see how there are even 17 spots to put a bridge in that stretch of river.

It's 28 miles from Brusly to Donaldsonville and the "consultants" identified 32 proposed sites??? WTF? So more than a proposed site for every mile. WOW!

At the end of the day that bridge is going to go right beside the Laberge Casino. Watch.

I dream of the day I can avoid Baton Rouge entirely as I traverse our great state.

Trying to figure out who gets the greatest kickbacks in the land expropriations

The team also eliminated sites that might contain protected wildlife
But what if some protected turtle species decides to up and move the site they do end up picking?
Shut it all down and start over?

When I clicked on this thread I expected a link to a Sadvocate story.
I should have known better.

Simply based on that picture, I'd go with option 3, and the expressway to Hwy. 30. Then, to make it even more useful, convert Hwy. 30 from that point south to I-10 to 4 lanes or more of controlled access. And convert LA 1 to controlled access from Port Allen to the new bridge. This would become the preferred route for vehicles from NOLA to west of BR and the other way as well.
Instead of the loop, you get a spur to bypass the worst traffic in BR.
Of course this would reduce traffic from the Hwy. 30 exit on I-10 to downtown BR - which will make some commercial business mad - but to hell with them.

The bridge should go at St. Gabe as part of a southern loop that looks something like this:
Running down the east side of the Intracoastal parallel to LA 1 with at least 1 ramp for Brusly, 1 for Addis and 2 for Plaquemine (one which crosses the bayou to the west and one which connects to LA 1 south of Plaquemine) means people along that corridor would no longer be slaves to LA 1 and the Intracoastal.
Expanding Hwy 30 from the bridge up to West Lee (or even Burbank) as a 4 or (ideally) 6 lane highway would give LSU traffic a massive artery as well as address the growth that's going on there now AND make accommodations for future growth.
Other access ramps at Prairieville and north of Port Vincent would help with growth and traffic issues long those routes and then connect the whole thing to 12 at Walker.
The full section would open up the west side of the river to far more development (thus taking the pressure off 12 moving east and 10 moving south) as well as allow plant traffic in the Geismar area routes to avoid Baton Rouge entirely and all New Orleans traffic to avoid Baton Rouge as well.
Distance-wise this would be little different than going north on 55 and taking 269 to avoid Memphis then getting onto 40 to continue on to Nashville (~48 miles vs the ~44 miles of the Memphis outer loop).

EBR already voted to upgrade La 30. First was Kip’s Greenlight plan (30 from LSU south to W Lee). That was passed in 2005. Only the intersection at Lee was done.
Second voters passed widening of 30 south from S Lee to the parish line as part of the MovEBR plan. Nothing has been done to date.
Things take time, but not improving 30 yet from LSU to Lee as promised is ridiculous.

They’ll be hover cars that can hover and cross the river by the time it’s narrowed down to 1 it’ll be obsolete by the time I the site is selected, zoned, permitted, started and finished

It makes you wonder where that money has gone to.
