Enrollment drops, local revenues do not; just state revenues.
That’s incorrect. Charter schools get a cut of local revenue as well as the state money.

You don’t think someone from NY is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on local school board races in Baton Rouge to be held accountable by said school board do you?
Now we've got something to work with.

Thxs for correction. Did not know that.
Has EBR cut administration in response to dwindling enrollment?

Crochet attributed some of the current year financial problems to declining enrollment at many schools, which led to a $4.2 million decrease in state funding based on enrollment.
Sounds like they should have already decreased staff at schools to match declining enrollment.

The public school system and department of education should be eliminated
Sadly all the stupid anti-"this and that" rules, and "feels" will just move to private schools, ruining them. Why I hesitate on the whole "school choice" stuff.
Would be interesting to see if this district can pull something off.
They need to stick to focusing on the basics. Reading, writing, and arithmetic. The "standardized tests" really havent helped, but hurt.

I’ve been told the main problem with charter v public is the requirement that public must provide special ed funding, and charter can reject SPEDs. Is that true?

Doesn't x amount of FIXED property tax $ go straight to the school board ? IF, you 'opt-out' of the public school system you STILL PAY the same amount ! Most of this $ is locally generated via property taxes.....HOW are they receiving LESS money ? HOW could these 'education experts' totally screw up the money part ?
Irresponsible 'parents' are at the base of public school problems...it's NOT the $ available, although these morons have apparently mis-managed themselves into a corner !

They spend a whole lot of $$ on these charter school contracts..... Which majority of them aren’t doing well.
Charters are public eds last chance. If they aren’t working then the entire public system needs to be completely eliminated.
Socialist-run ed has had a 100 years to prove itself....

The majority of our problems in this country boil down to no self accountability. It’s much easier to scream racism than it is to look at yourself in the mirror and blame yourself.
