I smell a tax increase in Batin Rouge’s future. No way the current administration cut costs by combing schools and closing others to offset declining enrollment. That’s the way it’s done in the hood school system of Jackson,MS and BR is soon to follow. They kept increasing sales and property taxes to the point all the white folk left and now the Business are leaving.

Hell EBR already spends several thousand more per student than some of the great ISDs in Houston.
The difference is that EBR has an abundance of administrative positions, Houston ISDs have several less per school or educational complex.
EBR has lost 1,000 residents each the past two years. Tax base is declining as well.

The issue they have, and most public school systems have, is the amount of money spent outside of the classroom. They have to feed this massive beauracracy that is created with government work.
Some of these schools have as many administrators as they do teachers. Then you go to the school board office where another army of administrators is housed. 90% of these positions due nothing to support the kids.

EBR knows this as well regarding the administrative positions. They've been to Houston twice to check out it's schools.

Rouge I know for a fact they checked out the Berry Center which is not even a school. I would venture to guess they stayed within the Cy-Fair ISD because of it's immense size and overall good

Just as Edwards wants a 1k raise for teachers across the board.
Of course, the real issue is that school districts are top heavy and create pointless jobs to keep people on payroll rather than cutting them.

They just had one renewed less than a year ago. They can cry all they want. I’m one of 7 kids that all went to EBR public schools in the 60’s and 70’s and all of us did fine. However I’m the only one that stayed and have put a bunch of kids through private school while most of my siblings across the country have enjoyed good public school education.
Judge Parker single handily ruined EBR public schools and create the economic boom fo Ascension and Livingston Parish. He himself was a product of EBR schools-BR High.

These schools districts buy buy buy thinking the money will always come. They create frivolous positions to keep friends working and administration receives raises everytime to district does well.

It’s amazing Judge Parker had enough energy to completely screw over an entire school system and multiple generations, considering he stayed drunk most of the time.
