Postal workers claim they're being forced to fake package deliveries

A Riverton Post Office worker anonymously came forward to confirm the faked deliveries in Herriman, and explain that they do it because they are too understaffed to meet the delivery expectations.
"They're getting scanned as delivered, so that it looks like they're delivered when their bosses downtown, or the regional bosses, or Amazon says, 'Yes, this office is meeting their quota,'" the employee said.
quote:
"We have to falsify the timing where a lot of carriers don't want to do that, but you're mandated to with a director order," a postal carrier said.
On Monday, Fox 13 spoke with a man who verified he's a USPS carrier in California, and he said it is very commonplace to falsify package deliveries.
"We have a very big contract with Amazon dollars-wise, and we are trying to prove to them that we can deliver... 99.8 percent delivery every day," he said. "So, they try and hit that target."
He indicated that 'hitting that target,' leads to manager bonuses.
"It's about management chasing their numbers," he said. "The reason they chase their numbers, is again, to get their bonuses."

Your government at work ladies and gentleman. Blows my mind that you want these same types of people to “regulate” our internet, run healthcare, etc.

I have no comment on the matter. Post office is mixed in with the illuminati.

Yeah I'll never understand how citizens want the same government that controls the USPS, Amtrak, and the VA to run healthcare and other facets of life. Mind boggling.

Zero question they are faking the deliveries. Their favorite trick is to scan it delievered and leave it at the office and then just stick a “missed you, come pick it up at the office” card in your mailbox. That way they avoid having to carry the box with them. Pisses me off.

Definitely had this happen. Amazon showed as delievered, USPS showed as delivered, was on the verge of filing a lost package claim and it showed up 3 days after they said it did.
This is same concept as drive thru windows asking you to pull up even when there is no one behind you. They can claim they got you through the window in less than a minute, even though you sat pulled up 10' for 10 minutes. All so they can report acceptable numbers without actually fixing anything.

I was told by an amazon customer service rep straight up that USPS was pulling this.
I had a couple packages that were delivered past the guaranteed date, so I called to complain.
I was surprised at how honesty he was.

Never had this issue. My USPS guy is really good. Now my FedEx and UPS guys are awful though.

In the last couple of months, nothing ordered from Amazon that was delivered by USPS arrived on time. They all showed as delivered, left on porch. Thing is, I have a gate on my drive. Only way they could possibly do that, is just the fence and walk up a hill.
I called Amazon everytime. None of the Amazon reps were remotely surprised that my stuff showed as delivered, but wasn't. They all wanted me to wait until 8pm the next day. My question to everyone of them was, "When's the last time you saw a mailman delivering at 8pm?"

I've had this happen a couple of times.
The real irony is, our UPS lady is by far the worst of the group. I walked out a couple mornings ago, and a package was literally on the hood of our car near the end of the driveway.

I have had Smartpost packages that FedEx hands off to USPS scanned as "Delivered to Agent." Problem is I am the sole inhabitant of a single family dwelling. That delivery status allows the USPS carrier to meet the quota, leave the package in his vehicle and deliver at a later date.
Interesting enough, when the package is actually delivered to me on the later date, the package is scanned again and the status is updated to "Delivered."
So much for accountability.

This is the postal version of "pull ahead and I'll bring you your food when it's ready."

This isn't limited to the USPS.
From Wells Fargo to faking new accounts to Volkswagen faking emmission tests, management is pressured for results and they find ways to "meet" them.

My USPS guy pulls the “unable to access neighborhood due to lack of gate code” crap.
Huh. My neighborhood isn’t gated.
Then magically in the next few days, he finds his code to the mythical gate and my package appears.

I had this happen, but didn’t realize it was common-we get 1 subscribe and save item every month-dog food. Always left on the front porch-then last month, i get a ‘delivery exception’ email. Kinda just thought it was a new mail person or something-now i know it was definitely bullshite.

Yep. All of my SmartPost or equivalent packages are marked as delivered on Amazon when they've actually only been delivered to the USPS. I'll get them a day or two later at the house.
