I received a good offer from a company based out of Houston but the position is in Midland, TX. My wife and I took a trip this weekend out to Midland and actually enjoyed the city. It was clean in the nice areas and the people we did meet were nice. For every reason we can think of going, we can come up with a reason to not. We would be leaving CENLA.

What say OT lounge on Midland?

Not sure how long, but my wife I and know once we leave LA we aren't coming back. Weird to say when we have lived here our whole lives. And we would leave our family behind.

It’s an overpriced butthole of a city. There’s good reason flights out are so cheap.

If you enjoy hunting, you'd hunt well and eat well out there.
People who are there are really nice.

And a Midland joke:
How can you tell which way the wind is blowing without going outside?
The color of the dust in the air.

Hence the statement at first stating that my wife and I just went out there to visit.

Leaving LA for Midland is an upgrade only in the purest economic sense.

Midland Rockhounds baseball games are fun and there are plenty of good restaurants around the stadium.

Moved to Midland from BR in 2002. Just moved to TN last year. Midland is a great place to make money and raise kids. Good food. HEB is the best grocery store, period. Midland is dry, hot, and windy all of the time. The water is undrinkable. You can’t even wash your car with it. There’s not a lot to do. Everyone around there has lake houses or ranches somewhere else and takes off on the weekends. People are good. Traffic is stupid for such a small place. Property taxes are ridiculous. The people and business opportunities are what kept us there for so long. Now I just do everything remotely and fly in for meetings.
