Pope Francis orders US Bishops to delay their vote today on tackling sexual abuse

BALTIMORE — The bishops of America’s 196 Catholic dioceses and archdioceses gathered in Baltimore on Monday morning, meeting for the first time since sexual abuse scandals rocked the church in the summer. They planned to vote on measures to tackle the crisis and prevent further crimes.
In the opening minutes of their meeting, the bishops heard a surprising report: Pope Francis had asked them not to vote on any of their proposals.
quote:
The pope does not want U.S. bishops to act to address bishops' accountability on sexual abuse until he leads a worldwide meeting of church leaders in February, the president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, told the gathered bishops as the meeting opened Monday morning.
“At the insistence of the Holy See, we will not be voting on the two action items,” DiNardo said. He said he was “disappointed” by the pope’s directive.
Anne Barrett Doyle, co-director of BishopAccountability.org, called the last-minute order from the Vatican “truly incredible.”
“What we see here is the Vatican again trying to suppress even modest progress by the U.S. bishops,” said Doyle, whose group compiles data on clergy abuse in the church. “We’re seeing where the problem lies, which is with the Vatican. The outcome of this meeting, at best, was going to be tepid and ineffectual, but now it’s actually going to be completely without substance."

Pope Francis will kill what’s left of the Catholic Church.
Whether it’s intentional or mere incompetence is debatable.

Is it so hard to get a pope with some balls? Round up whatever pedophile priests are still living and hang them in St. Peter's Square on live TV.

Heard a comedian make a funny comment on this the other day:
"A two week conference? I got an idea, handle this in an email.
Dear Priests,
This is the Pope. Stop fricking little kids.
Thanks,
Holy See"

If you believe, it is not worth it. He is old, he will not last long. There will be significant backlash (I hope and pray) in the next Conclave.
Francis is a huge problem, :(
Remember, y'all, it is not little kids, the numbers do not seem to hold up. It is slightly older, late teens, to the tune of almost 85% of the claims. It is homosexual pederasty, not pedophilia in most cases. :( Horrible either way, of course, but someone or many seem to be content sowing confusion on the issue and generating double outrage as if outrage were not enough.

I just can’t pretend that people capable of hiding this type of behavior and displaying this level of hubris and indifference have any business teaching me or anyone else about morality and the word of god as contained in the Bible.
If you behave this way you have not only lost the right to preach to others, but need to dedicate your time to reflecting on your own actions and how they’ve impacted those around you.

Always strange to me how so many Catholics love to boycott just about any affront to their beliefs but the Catholic Church itself. Dicks Sporting Goods? You bet. Priests playing with them? Not a chance.

I think intentional and I am a loyal catholic.

Actually, I stopped contributing to the Bishops Services Appeal over 10 years ago because of this and other issues related to the LA Bishops Association testifying in the LA Legislature that ignorance you don’t support “forgiveness” and granting parole eligibility to convicted murderers, then you are a bad Catholic.
I still give some money to the local church we attend, and mostly because the new priest who has been named pastor told the congregation during one of his first Masses “If you witness or hear of a clergy or church official sexually violating a child, don’t report it to me or someone within the church...call the police first”.
Dude earned my respect right there.

1. Let priests get married
2. Let women be priests
2. Let women be priests

After being raised catholic and attending Catholic School pre-k through high school, I ran and never looked back.
Here’s a solution, let the priests get married and have relations with the opposite sex. You’re putting humans in an unnatural situation as catholic priests.

Why the hell is this the defense I keep seeing?
At this point, I have no idea how people can remain Catholic.

They have to vote on it, its not unanimous that something should have been done immediately?

that really no excuse. If the priest wanted to go bang some hookers on his off time, that is fine... nothing excuses him diddling young children.

If Catholics allow Priests to get married there would be a bunch of male homosexual Priests, Bishops and Cardinals who would want to marry their male sexual partners.
So, I don't think that allowing Priests to get married would solve these problems, because the main problem is that the Male Homosexual Cabal that seems to be running Roman Catholicism is IN CONTROL, baby.
PS It will take 100 years to solve this problem AND IMHO, that clock has not yet begun to tick.
Wowza.
