On the way home from Houston, and I have to say I was shocked at how strict they still are. Their mask mandate has been lifted for two months, and we had to wear one at every single business we visited the entire weekend.
I was surprised because they didn’t care at all in Fredericksburg a couple weeks ago, and lots of places in Austin didn’t care either. In Houston yesterday, we were at an outdoor/open air bar and the bartender (behind plexiglass) jumped back a couple feet and pointed to his mask for us to put ours on before serving us.
That's wild. Granted I only live here, but I have not been asked to wear a mask in months. The only place I'll wear it somewhat consistently is the grocery, but I've forgotten several times and nobody said anything.

its a vaccine.
No, technically it is not. It has no antigen. It is a set of instructions sent to your dna to create the antigen. It is a completely different technology than a vaccine. If you don't understand the differences, you may want to read about it. They use the word "vaccine" to dumb it down for the populace and simply to get people to take it, trust it, feel they need it.

When injected they each cause an immune response in the body which stimulates the production of antibodies and provides immunity against in this case COVID19.
You're talking out of your arse. That simply isn't true. You need to quit responding to things that you don't know anything about.

I'm 67 years old, no chronic health problems, no comorbidities - good aerobic and anaerobic exercise regimen. Rarely go to the doctor other than annual physical. I usually get the annual flu vaccine (still caught the flu a couple times - ugh) so I'm not anti-vax.
Other than being 67 years old, what is the case for getting the vaccine (BTW - J&J would be the one I would choose.)
You are an adult.
You know the risks.
You are responsible for your choice's outcomes
Not Biden
Not Fauci
Not Hannity
Not Trump

Completely agree. We have been dealing with this for about 14 months now and vaccines are available to everyone everywhere. It’s passed time to open up the USA completely and deal with the risks according to your vulnerability.

Uchi, Georgia James, some wine bar, Ostia, State of Grace, Hay Merchant, Holman Draft Hall, Hugo’s, MAD, the shops in the Heights, every Uber I got into, etc.
Only went into 2 places that didn’t care - Wicklow Heights and a gay club.

So you had the virus, got natural anti bodies, felt it was important to get more anti bodies that are not natural with zero idea of long term side effects... sounds like a dumb move.

More sounds like you’re a dumb person.

Some middle aged dude lost his shite on my wife for not having a mask on in the grocery store last weekend. He was very upset. I don't put one on now unless an employee asks me to. I just stick it in my pocket and go about my business otherwise.

That sucks. I just did my usual grocery run in Metairie. No mask for me and about 25% of the rest of the store. Several employees maskless as well. Felt great.

You will never hear about covid once the mid term campaigns start heating up.

It wasn't meant to be sarcasm. I don't traverse the city like someone visiting, so it's likely our experiences would be different.
Reading it again, I can see how it came off that way. I just meant you probably did a lot more in a weekend than I do in months.

I don’t care what other people do, and I won’t call someone dumb for choosing their own path concerning their healthcare. That being said...I agree with this part:

Dorignac’s.
Hit fresh market after. Still masking there.

Technically, yes, our tax dollars paid for these, but no one should actually be paying to get a shot.
ETA My wife got her Moderna shot through the VA and I got Pfizer through the state DOH. No purchase required.

I haven't been confronted yet.
I expect it though.
What's the best response?
I was going to fire back stating that I've been vaccinated, if that's his business.

We've worn masks, haven't said a word to anyone and no one has bothered us. And we live in lower Alabama (panhandle of Florida) where the anti mask sentiment is quite strong. But people have been generally minding their own business. I had one guy that recognized me at a Whataburger who made a bit of a snarky "barely recognized you with that mask" comment as if trying to convey how dumb he thought it was, but that's been it.
ETA the only thing that kind of "bothers" us is the establishments that will list "masks required inside" but they are clearly not enforcing it. Just take the signs down.
