We need to set up an Escape From NY type prison system for these animals. We can use the barrier islands and every now and then when a Cat 4 wipes it out we rebuild and reset.

They did the same thing to a girl I know. A single woman living alone. She sat in the hallway with a pistol watching the front door.

My liberal arse in-laws, who are strongly against guns, want to move to Baton Rouge from their quaint little small town in Illinois in the next couple years. I can’t wait for them to have their first real scare and see if they still refuse to get a gun

In my opinion, much of College Dr is already unsafe and has been for years. I don’t live in Baton Rouge, though so I don’t see it all the time.

College Drive is almost completely gone. The stretch from I-10 to Perkins is a bum zoo exhibit. The stretch from I-10 to Bankers is a ghetto shithole. The stretch from Bankers to Jefferson Highway includes those apartments that always has shootings, but is the last stretch of College that isn’t completely uninhabitable.

Why do we have to be trying to convince people of something to discuss shootings in a town a bunch of us live in? It’s news when a shooting happens on government street in front a church on a Sunday.

The news reports it because they get views. I have no issue with news stations reporting it. What I’m trying to figure out is what point this board tries to make by posting every shooting. Or who they are trying to convince? We all know shootings happen daily.

It could be that speedy is fricking sick and tired of it, and tries to continue to raise awareness. The reality is, brac, labi and all of these other small time political groups who run BR have installed complete shitheads to run the place. And predictably it has been a complete shite show since Broom got in. She put a puppet in at police chief whose sole hiring requirement was firing Salomoni. He has gutted, ran off or diminished anyone who is not a complete yes man.

BRPD’s defense, they probably only had three officers on duty out of a ten person shift because all the others quit, and the few on duty were tied up on a shooting or carjacking.

The officer that showed up (U. Poland AA male) stayed for less than 5 minutes, after I told him the person broke my window and was actively opening it up and trying to climb inside when I opened my bedroom door and the dude left.

He took a picture of the window, had the balls to tell me to lock myself in my bedroom if they come back and then… to top it off…..

He recorded the incident as just damage to property rather than attempted break in

I can’t believe he did that. Questionable people like to scour my neighborhood at 3AM several times a year - it’s been like that for about 12 years.

around 10 years ago BRPD used to take fingerprints- now they just take the report over the phone.

Our 'fearless' govt. leaders, commission DOZENS of 'expert' panels,research/focus groups as well as 'professional'boards, to study all the underlying causes/effects to virtually every 'malady' which befalls society ! WHERE are the ANSWERS as to what causes all this crime/mayhem ? I mean the actual ROOT causes AND an 'action plan'/path forward ? ANYTHING BUT....the old tried/failed approach of 'give-away-programs'...which have been PROVEN, to NOT accomplish ANYTHING ! WHY are we not able to identify/address/SOLVE some of our most difficult problems ? WHO is holding society back ???

The inaugural project of the Plank Road master plan will be an $8 million building with apartments, a YWCA early learning center and headquarters for Build Baton Rouge. A BREC pocket park will be a block away, as will a Bus Rapid Transit stop.

I’m not an avowed liberal my any means, but I think things like your example are crime
Prevention . They are providing a path for people that want to be able to get out the ghetto life. A place to provide structure for your children and a way to get to work. That IS addressing a major part of the crime problem.

Call me cynical, but let's see what those "investments" in the Plank Rd. area look like in 5-7 years.

If you bet the OVER SHOOTINGS at 2 in one day, you win!

We've only got 3 so far this year. That'll put us on pace for only the mid 130's this year

Check that. Looks like 4 now
