You don't think there is at least 800k people that fit your mold in our country of almost 350 million?

You probably need 3-5 million who fit the mold to have a chance to get to the number. I hope there are, but I have my doubts.

Huge chunks come out immediately - idiots, old people, most women, children, obese men, etc. etc.

The father was to blame here - he murdered the girl's mom, kidnapped her, was shooting from the car while fleeing, and dressed his daughter in tactical gear in anticipation of the shoot out he no doubt knew he was going to cause.

Am I seeing correctly that she’s laid out on the ground after being shot and 30 fricking cops are waddling over to the truck and ONE cop is concerned with the fricking child they just blasted?

ETA: Is it true that the police are fighting body cam footage from being released?

ETA: The driver is backing up on the middle of dirt and from the helicopter footage it looks and sounds like the police are SPRAYING rounds everywhere in an attempt to put tens or hundreds of rounds in the vehicle.

Had they decided to sacrifice the child at that point?

The number one rule of gun safety is “Be absolutely sure you have identified your target beyond any doubt. Equally important, be aware of the area beyond your target.” I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect cops to abide by that rule. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect anyone who picks up a gun to abide by that rule. They made the choice to assume that responsibility, and they have to live with the consequences of their actions, just like anyone else would.

Enlisted personnel (E4-E6 or even higher) aren't making oodles of cash.

What metric are you judging this comment by?

IIRC, the cost to train and vet a Seal is around 500k.
Salary isn't the only consideration. And obviously when bullets are flying even highly trained people like Seals or Rangers make mistakes ie Pat Tillman.

This whole scene was a huge shitshow with the crossfire and non-existent communication. The cops from either side of the line likely thought the crossfire bullets were from the perp and it just escalated the situation.

The father is the scum here. He could've killed her along with her mother or in a crash fleeing the cops.

Split second decision seeing someone run at you after a firefight in full kit. Such a shame but I totally see how this mistake was made. You only got a second to make the decision and if you see armor and someone running to you after a firefight… damn that just sucks I feel bad for all involved

Stop acting as if you are the only person who has heard gunfire, bootlicker.
At worst, they are murderous cops.
At best, incompetent cops.

Either way,

White girl dies from police gun fire. Not even news worthy. Certainly not riot worthy.
A travesty…

The officials releasing the info have released facts that lead me to believe that the LEO folks towards whom the deceased girl was running did not fire the shot that killed her. Somebody else from another "higher" position fired the kill shots.

Yea it’s a vehicle with a hostage and the are both spray the vehicle AND towards each other as they were on opposite sides of the vehicle.

Just absolutely wild decisions.

Haven't kept up with this much, but since it was a 70 mile chase, it looks like many departments were involved. I would bet the other departments weren't told what exactly was happening and just started blasting not knowing she was a 15 year old hostage.

Still one would think they would see her surrendering and hold fire.

Again, firing at a vehicle with a hostage AND each other down range

Their lack of having anyone in charge ended up in a dead hostage and could’ve been dead police if not for luck

Multi agency cluster with no leadership is how you get terrible outcomes. Someone needed to be lead and there needed to be shared communication.

Heck, opposite end of the spectrum is uvalde.

Dude is yelling stand down and bullets rain from everywhere because they aren’t on shared radio or?
