Random question how did the ATC audio get released so quickly?

Give me the 47-year old white guy on his 7th cup of coffee and 3rd divorce with today's Daily Racing Form in his back pocket.

The Jack in the audio was her fiancé, who was also a 21-year-old pilot
How does an aviation company not have someone with at least 10 years of experience piloting that thing?

My sauce just told me there was a dog on board, too.

So the white Cadillac driver (believed to have narrowly missed the disaster) was in control of his own destiny when a ~ 20,000 lbs lear jet is screaming in like a missile at 22,000 feet per minute?

This dude would have safely landed the plane.

Before this crash the Learjet 60 was had fatal odds per trip of 1 in 1.1 million
To compare a good commercial airline like Delta has a 1 in 25 million odds, many airlines never crashed though so the real odds are even lower like 1 in 40 million trips maybe
So the Learjet 60 was already 40x less safe than commercial airliners
That's something I keep repeating about private jets, they're simply not as safe as flying commercial because:
- pilots require less flight hours
- private aviation is less regulated
- smaller airports with less or no instrument landing systems (ILS)
- smaller planes are more affected by weather (in this case icing)
The Learjet 60 now has fatal odds of 1 in 800,000 which is still about double as safe as the Cessna Citation (one of the most common private jets)
Most Gulfstreams still have flawless safety records though, G500/G600, G550, G650/G700/G800 never crashed, so if you are boarding a private jet anytime soon, I'd say go with them!

It's amazing how these longer threads on any topic tuns the EXACT same way. It starts off the story with some slightly not accurate data, then a few people with actual knowledge of the topic pop in with good related info. Then someone comes with a dumb arse take. The thread gets derailed for several pages as they argue. Next comes those that are too lazy to read the thread and post old outdated info. And the cycle continues until the real information gets out.

IDK, my friend's normal pilot is an old dude with years and hours of experience, but once he wasn't available to fly us so he recommended another guy who was ex-military and also used to fly helis for the LAPD. Dude was a cowboy in the cockpit.
One time he almost overshot our destination, so he dived down faster than usual and popped the speed brakes at the same time. I was asleep when he did it and woke up damn near crapping my pants. He was laughing about it like he enjoyed it.
He told us wild stories about his police chases and flying low across L.A. and damn near hitting buildings and cliffs
Not sure I would ever fly with that dude again
Well, I'd want someone that flew jets in the military and then transitioned to fly commercial airliners. There have to be a bunch.
And I'd be very clear about not taking risks and desired level of comfort for passengers on the plane
I might partner that guy with a stodgy, checklist following rule follower co-pilot with a lot of boring experience and some real meteorology training. Perfect combo

I get that, but my friend's plane is a Cessna Citation CJ2, which is certified for single-pilot operation. He was the only one flying us that day and flew us back a few days later. Thankfully, the return flight was less adventurous.

This.
If I saw these two were piloting my private jet to the Bahamas ... I'm firing my private jet company and booking first class on Delta.
