That's definitely from a prop plane.

If you have ever flown on a CRJ or on one of the “partner carriers” like skywest, you’ve flown with inexperienced pilots.

Gray hair, gender, age does not imply experience

CONFIRMED BY FAMILY: 20-YEAR-OLD CO-PILOT IDENTIFIED IN DEADLY FLORIDA LEARJET CRASH

Nathalia Gadelha, just 20 years old, has been identified by her mother and stepfather as the co-pilot aboard the Learjet 60 that crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida, on November 1, killing all nine people on board.

Nathalia could fly an airplane before she could legally drive a car.

In October 2023, she was featured in a local news interview as a 17-year-old senior at West Boca Raton High School. She had earned her private pilot’s license the previous month and had already accumulated 88 hours of flight time.

Her passion for aviation began years earlier. Her father started flying recreationally in 2018 and helped introduce her to aviation. Nathalia began ground school in 2020, while still a teenager.

Her public-school aviation program helped fund her flight training.

American Flyers, the flight school she attended, publicly celebrated her accomplishments on its own social media account before this tragedy.

She continued advancing her aviation qualifications, reportedly earning commercial, multi-engine, instrument, and flight-instructor credentials. She also shared that her boyfriend was pursuing aviation, and that they had achieved an extraordinary amount before turning 21.

She dreamed of flying commercially.

The aircraft, identified as Learjet 60 registration N722BD, was traveling from Austin, Texas, to North Eleuthera in the Bahamas.

Flight-tracking reports indicate that the aircraft had arrived in Austin from Little Rock, Arkansas, the day before the crash.

During the final flight, the crew reported icing, turbulence, and precipitation before requesting a higher altitude.

Flight-tracking data reportedly showed the aircraft losing approximately 26,500 feet of altitude in roughly two minutes, with an extraordinary descent rate recorded during its final moments.

The NTSB is investigating.

Pray for these families.

It’s publicly available in real time. Websites capture the data and make it available immediately

You can listen at home via portable radios too

It was recorded off of LiveATC. Different than the CVR. That may be even worse.

Because you want to shrink down the hard work, training, and commitment to safety that thousands of professionals have worked to achieve to just “there’s two women flying, that’s not safe”

It is insulting. We are living in the safest period of commercial aviation.

Part 121 airlines, like United, operate under different set of regulations than Part 135, like this crash. When you step on a US flagged scheduled airline you are safer than your drive to the airport

The Jack in the audio was her fiancé, who was also a 21-year-old pilot

It should be illegal for someone that young to be pilot or copilot on a jet engine aircraft.

It's impressive that she got to the point where she was in the cockpit of a learjet that quickly, but I've watched a lot of aviation channels about these incidents and a running theme is these privately run aviation companies aren't always following the rules, set their own safety standards, their own training (or lack training). This is what happened with that Amazon flight that ran off the runway in Miami.

Some of these places will hire people they shouldn't for their own reasons.

If true, the company has a lot of explaining to do. This is a ridiculous conflict for a number of reasons.

Lots of kids get their ppl while in HS. It’s just like taking early college classes

My flight school in BR had numerous kids from Parkview.

But I agree having two young, inexperienced pilots on the same flight deck is DANGEROUS AF

I would look at the Captain and question the company’s requirements for someone earning that role

IDK, my friend's normal pilot is an old dude with years and hours of experience, but once he wasn't available to fly us so he recommended another guy who was ex-military and also used to fly helis for the LAPD. Dude was a cowboy in the cockpit.

One time he almost overshot our destination, so he dived down faster than usual and popped the speed brakes at the same time. I was asleep when he did it and woke up damn near crapping my pants. He was laughing about it like he enjoyed it.

He told us wild stories about his police chases and flying low across L.A. and damn near hitting buildings and cliffs

Not sure I would ever fly with that dude again
