The other side of the mountains in North Carolina are just as nice, but without the crowds. You can eat great food and visit plenty of breweries in Asheville without the cheesy touristy trap atmosphere.

Townsend and Fontana are great. I will never understand people going to Pigeon Forge and then complaining like they didn’t know beforehand what it was like.

Asheville and the Black Mountain areas were nice. We prefer Blue Ridge and Ellijay areas due to their proximity to Birmingham.

My kids loved it. We bought trashy hoodies, cookies, hot sauces, and other snacks.
We also rode the sky coasters and ski lift thingies and went to the cheesy Ripleys Believe it or Not Museum.
It's a great day or two of fun that balances out a trip filled with scenic mountains and streams and naturey shite.
Definitely can't wait to go back some time.

Driving between Sevierville and Gatlinburg reminds me of the "Married With Children" episode where Al and the family get in the car for a holiday trip. Sunday came and they were still in front of their home.

Went there for my honeymoon not knowing any better. Total shithole of a place. You have to find the knarley trails through the park to escape all the fat trash
