“ Right now I’m trying to decide between the “sapphire sandwich” moon watch and the Seamaster 300 co-axial ”

To me Omega Seamaster is the best. Always admired them. You got a great watch there.

I just don’t get spending 2k on that. Just me though.
Same....watches and sunglasses are two items I won’t spend money on. Never have liked “jewelry”. Haven’t worn a watch since I was overseas for Desert Storm, other than when I would do running races and triathlons. Other than my wedding ring, I just don’t like the feel of anything else dangling around my fingers, wrists or neck.
Have never spent more than $20 on a pair of sunglasses...I either break them or lose them within a couple of years. To each is own...if you’ve got the money and it’s something you want to buy, go for it.

My wife gave me a Planet Ocean like this one for our anniversary this year. The new Omega Snoopy watch is awesome.

I bought a Sinn 856a in the spring. Different price point than the rolexes and omegas but still a really nice watch. I've been happy with it.

This used to be me until my vision got worse because of old age. Now my sunglasses are prescription and definitely not cheap.
I can appreciate the look of some of these expensive watches so I don’t have an issue with someone spending that much on something that’s high quality. My favorite watch was some inexpensive Timex Indiglo but I’ve moved on to Apple watches.
Are the comically large watch faces still in fashion?

Curious because I’ve been looking at that one in black.
If you're thinking of buying it online try Jomashop. It's where I've bought mine and have had no problems.

Walt Cunningham, Apollo VII astronaut, told me a story about the Omega Speedmaster he wore to space. When the astronauts returned, he had to turn it in, it was government property. Instead, he went and purchased another one, and swapped it out. He wanted to keep the one he took to space.
Five years later, he got busted, when NASA audited the watches, and discovered that Walt's Omega didn't include a small numbered engraving on the back that it should have. They contacted him and forced him into admitting it and he had to return the watch to NASA.

I'm so old I can remember back when a man bought a watch so he could know what time it is...

Any OT’ers into lux watches here?
You've been here for 5 years and you don't know the answer to this?

Will this become an addiction?
Depends on if you can afford the addiction. If you can, then yes. If you cannot, then I guess you could completely overextend yourself and buy watched you can't afford, but you will likely be sitting on the sidelines.

I have an older coworker that has a 2003 Omega Seamaster Pro in mint condition. He had it appraised ($2500) and wants $2k. I passed but if he still has it in 6 months, if so, I'll try to get it for a lower price.

Only $4,000? That isn’t luxury baw.
I’m kidding, that’s a beautiful watch. I’m happy with my Citizen.

Congrats. I’ve had my Seamaster for ~12 years. I got it with some of the money I’d saved up while in Iraq and intend to keep it for my children and my children’s children. My grandfather has a Rolex after a quick visit to Switzerland that he got while in Italy in 1945/1946 at the end of the war and as part of the occupation.
It’s my most prized physical possession by far and I love it.

See, you're at least the kinda guy that can appreciate a nice watch, happy with what you have, but not bash those that do decide to spend their money on them.

I’ve almost bought a Rolex or Omega watch at least three times and I couldn’t bring myself to buy it. It’s hard for me to find the usefulness in a $6,000 watch.
