Same. This Apple Watch does many things, and at least 5 that I use regularly. These watches do two things and not even better. Sure, you don't have to replace it, but I would want to replace that boring shite.

I do have a Rolex, and I never wear it. I also don't drive a luxury car. I try to look humble.

The movement on the Speedmaster (visible case back) is beautiful and it is a classic. But I've never had a fully mechanical watch and I'm not sure how much of a pain in the arse it will be to have to wind it every day when there are times I may not wear it for 2-3 days.

My thought process on acquiring high end, luxury items is always to go the classic route. While the watch you picked out is stylish, I personally prefer a watch that will stand the test of time. And of note, digital date display does not compute with classic, unfortunately.

Are the comically large watch faces still in fashion?

There’s a trend where some watch companies are moving smaller, but most tool watches are going to be around 40mm case diameter.

My everyday watch is a 36mm Tudor Black Bay.

It’s not a digital date, the color of the date wheel just matches the dial

Call me poor or whatever, but spending that fricking much on a damn watch is fricking stupid.

It’s not terrible. It takes like 15 seconds. Just 30 - 40 little turns. Doesn’t matter how often you wear it, You’ll have to wind it everyday.

Given the option, I’d take an automatic over a manual hand-wind movement any day.

See, you're at least the kinda guy that can appreciate a nice watch, happy with what you have, but not bash those that do decide to spend their money on them.

How someone spends there money doesn’t bother me one bet. I’m not at a place in my life where I can get one, but I sure as hell hope I can splurge one day.

Evidently a lot of people because you can’t go into a Rolex dealer and walk out with a sport model unless you have already bought a lot of watches from them.

Buy used or grab a Tudor for half.

The snoopy speedies are so cool. Seems like they go for a pretty big mark up on the secondary markets.

I really like the seamaster. And maybe one day. I would really like to get the 50th anniversary speedmaster just announced but...can't do 9600. And no where near up on the priority list

So yeah it can become an addiction

I started with a Tissot T Touch titanium and thought holy cow...i just spent 800 for a watch but I still have it and like it. In April i found a really good deal on a new longines legend diver and havent regretted it also got a junghans max bill bauhaus

I do enjoy stunting on some fools, but the more comfortable I get in life, I realize I rather appear to be a pauper.

I can’t get it out of my spirit when I go to buy something like that “The Lord resists the proud and gives grace to the humble.”

I’d love a nice watch but I’d rather just keep the money invested.

Things I want to buy when I’m retired (so far at 35):

A driveable top end (relatively) RV
A Landrcruiser
A nice watch

Again, those are things you earn at 65, not 35.

Not a popular opinion but I feel your first nice watch should be new and meant to be an heirloom.
