Incredible pictures. Even better that this really does give me perspective.

Images like this are why NK's military "strength" should be taken with a bit of a grain of salt. The people, including soldiers, are so malnourished, they wouldn't stand a chance in a fight

Sean Penn's Utopia.

Looks like North Korea is stuck in 1950.

Several years ago 60 minutes or some news show ran a segment regarding a special waiver by Kin Jung-Il where he allowed a few opthamolic surgeons from the USA to examine patients and operate on them if it would improve their condition. Some people blind from birth were healed by the operations and several weeks later the bandages were removed. The people could see immediately and the first thing they did was bow down to a picture of the Dear Leader and thank them over and over for their eyesight.

If anyone has read orwell's 1984 the type of propaganda NK uses and the they way they spin and control what people are literally allowed to think is strikingly similar.

The ophthalmologist is from Nepal. I don't think they'd let an American in there to do such things.
The guy goes all over the world doing those operations; really amazing work LINK. Here's a video from the show Human Planet showing one of his surgery camps in Nepal.

Munsu water park official Kim Yong-suk said the fantasy water land was one of Kim Jong-un's pet projects.
"Respected leader Kim Jong-un guided us in this vision. He came eight times during construction and modified the plan 13 times," he said.
But the water park is only for a tiny minority — the regime's elite — and the aim is to reward their support and foster loyalty.

But although authorities were keen to show the lifestyles of the elite in capital Pyongyang, the harsh reality of life for the vast majority in the countryside was kept well hidden from journalists visiting for the 70th anniversary.
LINK There is a much higher income and lifestyle disparity in a place like N Korea because the ruling class is going to take what they want regardless of the laws of the land, but the poor people are expected to give up all to "Dear Leader"

The citizens are shut off from the rest of the world, they literally just don't know any better.

I saw a strange article one time that showed people sitting in internet cafes with computers that weren't turned on, just looking at black screens.

Lots of good documentaries out there on the subject. I binge on one or two a year.
