Why? It's not like they are covered in mud holding pick axes. They look like happy Asian people with camera bag at the ready in San Diego. They are just walking around leisurely and engaging each other personally. What do you need to see to not feel bad for them? Maybe everyone off by themselves staring at a cell phone screen?

Thanks OP. This is a great thread although it should be on the poli_board so some of the communists over there can see it.

Looks and sounds like a real life Agenda 21 or Hunger Games scenario.

I find North Korea fascinating. There's no place like it in the world (and that's an incredibly good thing), but the Kim regime is a piece of living history and notoriety. Very rarely do we know for sure what we witness will be written about more than 400 years from now.

The cost of no income inequality is having no one with income at all

You can't have everyone with something- economics doesn't work like that. If everyone has the same, everyone's going to have nothing.

I don't know, is is really so bad there? Some of those places look nice to me and I would not mind riding bikes all the time. It looks like they keep it clean. I have seen NG photos of Democratic Republic of Congo. This place looks nicer. Will visit.

Part of why this looks nice is because it's only what the government allows you to see. Read escape from camp 14 and you will have a different opinion on what North Korea is

A human tragedy. People need to realize that this is what communism looks like.

Even a simple piece of fruit was unfamiliar to Lee So-yeon when she fled North Korea seven years ago. She had never seen an orange. So when she came across one at a South Korean market, she bit into it like an apple -- peel and all. During the famine of the 1990s, Lee was forced to eat grass from the mountains to survive. "We were told that any grass that rabbits eat is edible," she says. "So we picked any grass we could find that wasn't poisonous and mixed it with rice, or used it to make grass porridge.

North Korea can't afford the bullets to execute their lawbreakers. They just feed them to dogs.

Going to be so interesting when it falls. On one hand, the country is rich in minerals and natural resources so the country/government that takes over will have solid exporting revenue. On the other hand, there are millions of impoverished, uneducated, brainwashed, midgets that you’d have to care for.

I would assume China would prevent any and all North Koreans from entering their country if it did fall. They are overpopulated as it is and don’t need that welfare bill.

Such a fascinating place from a social context. It really is the world's largest cult.

Its a shame that no one can really visit. It is one of the most geographically beautiful countries in the world

Google Maps - Bridge to Nowhere from China into NK

Crazy image from Google Maps. Nice bridge that extends from China into NK, but when it gets into NK, it simply ends in a field. It isn't connected to any roads.
