As kid if I had any “association” with a noose it would have been suicide if anything. Nobody ever thought it was racist. If you were upset and messing around you would do the fake hang yourself thing with your hands

Why is a noose by itself racist?

How in the world did these people, in California of all states, think that emailing this and putting it on Instagram would be a good idea in today's climate?

Until I was 13, I lived in an all white area. Not all white, like rich, but all white like hillbilly country folks. But my momma taught me that all people are equal, and I should treat them so. I never thought much about racism because, like I said, everyone around me was white and it just wasn't something I saw much.
Also, I loved westerns.
We later moved. I went to a school with black and white folks. No big deal. But, because of my ignorance on the subject, and my love of Clint Eastwood movies, I fashioned a little noose to hang on the rear view mirror of my first vehicle. Lynching black folks never crossed my mind. Luckily, a white classmate mentioned it to me before I was lynched myself. I still think back and cringe at how people probably thought I was a racist piece of shite.
