Ahhhh, black folks. Not everything is about you. I know you collectively wish that it was, but it isn't.

Do you or anyone know their reason for the noose hanging on the wall?

Yes. Next question.

Wow so if you saw a picture of people standing next to a burning cross smiling posted on social media, the first thing that would come to mind is "you know what, we really need to know the context here"?

I get that you are trying to stick to your guns, but that is insane. How far would you go before context doesn't matter:

What if they are dressed in white robes?

Still no context provided. It could be a historical re-enactment or some type of religious ceremony?

Do you know the context of why the teachers in this article had the noose?

Until you do, it's reactionary bullshite.

Give us all an example where it would be okay for 4 educators to: 1) Take a smiling picture with a noose and 2) Post it on Instagram

I'll wait...

Yes, because I don't base my decisions on a situation on my emotions. I prefer to understand the reasons and context of why the situation occurred before I pass judgment.

Well lookie here. Right on time.

Tell me why black people get to now claim sole ownership of one of the most common means (and still one of the most common types of suicide) of execution in human history?

Look, I know your type (perpetually offended people, not black people in general) likes to see racism behind every wiggling Bush, but maybe you should try to find...you know...actual racism first?

When a white person hangs themself...are they racist?

Racist?

What about this?

Because they want to? It's a piece of rope with a knot.

Now if said picture was also paired with a "this is what we're going to do to the black kids" caption, that changes the context entirely.

I’d be willing to bet a bunch of white public school teachers from California aren’t trying to revive the Klan.

Well, then let's keep going:

So teachers share a photo of themselves smiling next to a burning cross in robes while holding hoods in one hand and a battle flag in the the other and share it to social media ...you would still need context before saying it is a fireable offense?

Yes. You can sling all the examples you want. Context still matters.

Teachers holding picture of noose smiling: No context.
Teachers holding picture of noose smiling with caption saying "this is what we're going to do to the black kids": Context

Get it yet?

The principal emailed the picture to the entire staff. So she did it "just because they wanted to"?

ETA: I don't think it's racist, but the picture isn't appropriate either.

But what if they were just kidding making fun of racists and it was an inside joke? Wouldn't you need the context?

When was the last time your boss sent an email to the entire company with some of your coworkers holding anything, let alone something used to kill people? Sometimes you don't need context, but you can infer from the facts given

Really? #2 has kind of a Jerrold Nadler body.

I'd go 1,2,4,3 in a tight race.

What if they had a running joke all year that LEAP testing was like a noose around their necks?

What if the joke ran so long they even made one to symbolize the stress and strain of teaching and preparing for the tests?

What if, after finally finishing the exams, the teachers talked about how they were "free of the noose" and took a picture proud that their hard work and their tenacity paid off?

Finally, what if the principal was involved in the joke and forwarded to the rest of the staff with a caption saying "We did it guys and gals! We are free!!"

What if they hung it in the teachers lounge to remind them that hard work pays off and frees you of the hypothetical "noose"?

Tell me how that entirely plausible explanation is RACIST???

Some of you jerks are insufferable.

Aren't you 30 something years old and from south Louisiana. If I have to explain to you the connection between blacks and lynchings in America at this point in your life. With that being said if you are actually interested in the topic I would start here LINK

People have been hanged before America was even a thought That’s our entire point. A noose is a piece of rope that’s has been used for 1000s of years to kill every creed and color of people

Didn't say it was racist. It's 100% tone deaf especially when you consider the suicidal connotations.

ETA: I liked your examples to where this would be ok. Maybe next year they should hold knives to each other's throats to show how they really slashed the drop out rates or how administrators really cut the excess fat out of the budget.

When I see a noose, lynching isn't what leaps into my mind. I think of horse thieves and cattle rustlers. I watched too many Westerns as a kid.
