No please explain how a noose in itself is racist. Please

We've already lost the battle flag and blackface. Now nooses are considered racist??? This is a step too far.

So what?
A noose isn't racist. It's a thing.
Do you not grasp what context means?
ETA: Slaves were forced to pick cotton. So using your logic, we should stop wearing cotton clothing or using cotton products?
God forbid you have a picture of a noose made with cotton rope.
That's double-plus ungood!

What if instead of a noose, they took a picture by a burning cross? Would you need to know the context to criticize them as being stupid at best?

Which is why using the possession of inanimate objects to decide if someone is racist is fricking stupid.
Not really. I don't get to decide what has horrific symbolism to others. I judge people who wave nazi flags. I'm ok with people judging others for brandishing nooses. I'd hope that they'd have accepted my apology and excuse, if I had been called on it. But, it's not up to me to decide what a noose should mean to a black person.

So no, you don't grasp what context means.
Check.

A burning cross is an inanimate object which some people believe in as a symbol that Jesus is alive and will burn away all evil. It was used in midieval europe for non-racial purposes long before it was brought to the South.

And if the teacher was holding up the image as part of a history lesson of the above, or even discussing how it's use was co-opted by the KKK, that would be a fireable offense?

So an image circulating of teachers standing next to a burning cross and smiling would not be a fireable offense if they didn't intend for it to be racist?

It's dumb that this is an issue. But, I cant get really upset about their consequences. They should know that, in this social climate today, they would probably lose their jobs over this. Not a good idea to post on social media with a fricking noose and think people wont give a shite.

Outrage will soon ensue when the game hangman is played for spelling studies...

Do you know the context of why they were doing so?
Do you know the context of why the teachers in this article had the noose?
Until you do, it's reactionary bullshite.

Why is it possible? What evidence is there of it being racial?
Either situation is possible.
Judging by taking happy, smiling pictures with a noose and displaying it in a sort of haphazard way I assume they find humor in it.
If this was something related to a lesson about the history of hanging in our country I would expect it to be treated in a more serious way.
This definitely isn't a teaching situation and it leads me to believe that they are making light of either hanging as a whole or of how nooses are sometimes branded as racist in today's culture.
I don't know which they were doing but either is very possible.
Both of those possibilities show very poor judgement and then passing the photos around make me question their position teaching children.

Does context matter if they are standing next to a burning cross smiling and sharing it on social media?

And it's sad that it has come to this fact in our country, and that it can get you fired.

Yes. Next question.
