I have a family member who is also a transplant patient. His transplant and liver doc, one at Vanderbilt and the other at the VA in Birmingham, agreed that he should get the Pfizer vaccine. That was last Thursday. Before, they both were steadfast against it, and he worked throughout the pandemic in a job that puts him in contact with the general public. So, there's some movement in cases like yours.

They have literally already been paid for the vaccines you refuse to get. Trump guaranteed it. Hell, they're getting paid for 30 million more by the end of this month whether you get one or not.

As I said in the thread on the other board, only about 30% of transplant recipients produce antibodies even after the second shot. Studies have shown that a significant number will produce antibodies after a third round.

This is important, as transplant recipients overall die at about a 20% clip from COVID.

It's a big deal for them, as well as cancer patients, other people on immunosuppressive therapies, and people with immunosuppressive diseases.

authorize a booster dose
I’ll take it. Moderna x2 here, and I have every expectation that I’ll require another dose at some point. For now, I truly DGAF what everyone else does. I’m personally sandwiched squarely between the sides at church, and I’m tired of both arguments.

FWIW, Covid is hitting our church’s anti-vaxxers right now. Had a couple of folks test positive last Sunday, and we’ve since had about 20 cases pop up in various families this week. Sucks for them, and I’m hopeful they will survive. But, they made their choice, and that’s okay.

Liver patients have the best antibody response overall of any transplant group after the second dose. Almost 60% produce antibodies, double the average for transplant patients.

Serious answer: you have some immunity already, but one shot of Pfizer or Moderna will give you much stronger immunity, even stronger than those who did not have COVID and just got their two shots.

You absolutely do not need two shots. That's just a waste

I had China Virus, then about 75 days later I got the first Pfizer followed by the second 21 days later. The China virus, and Xi Jinping, fear me now.

I'm a liver transplant patient. I did get some, but the numbers so far have been extremely low when compared to the general population. I'm ready to get the booster. Staying home isn't an option anymore. The docs need to get with it.

OK, here's the stuff that backs up what I wrote earlier.

Here's the study showing that immunity wanes in those over 80, which is why some elderly people may need a booster: LINK

Here's the study showing that antibodies from prior infection are "4 fold less potent against variant Delta," which is why those who've had prior COVID should consider getting ONE shot: LINK

I would add that there are other studies indicating that those who have recovered from COVID still have significant immunity without getting a shot, which is what I said earlier. There is not a real consensus right now whether those who have had COVID should really get a shot or not.

This is the article about the studies indicating that those who have had COVID absolutely do not need to get a 2nd shot: LINK

Happy now?

Pfizer to ask FDA to authorize booster dose of COVID vaccine as Delta variant spreads

My doctor says the two shot combo is still producing protective antibodies a year later and counting. Eventually though, The original vaccines will no longer produce enough to be effective. When that time comes, I damn sure want to be able to get a booster.

For the life of me, I can’t see why people are against others who want the vaccine being able to get it.

You didnt understand a thing in that proposed paper did you?
quote:

Sera from individuals having received one dose of Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccines barely inhibited variant Delta.

translation: although your antibodies are 4 fold less potent, one dose is significantly worse than that

You do know that NC State was sent home from the college world series because 4 FULLY VACCINATED players tested positive? You getting vaccinated aint protecting you from the onslaught of variants that this virus is designed to develop into

I’ve had COVID and I got the vaccine (nb4 dumbass).
I’m not taking anymore shots or wearing masks and I know I’m not alone in that thinking. Im either protected or not. frick it

But mark my word. The next logical step for this shite is insurance companies will be allowed to deny coverage or death benefits if you or your relatives can not prove you were vaccinated.

Scumbag insurance companies are always looking for angles to not have to pay out coverage after taking years and years of payments.

And who sucks the insurance companies dicks better than the Democratic Party.

Big facts. Watch.

Not a single one of those guys was sick. They would never have even been tested in the real world. They only got tests because two of their unvaccinated teammates got COVID.

NC State being sent home was a fricking travesty. The vaccine did exactly what it was supposed to do and protected players from getting sick, but fricking fear porn rules put in place (just for show, mind you) render all of that meaningless.

If you are under 50 and in good health condition then there is no point in getting vaccinated if you've already had Covid.
