I view it as a race with other people starting at the same time as me. I beat you motherfrickers every time.

Correct...I don't work there.
Charge me 10% less to do the job of a cashier and I'll consider it.
I'm also not interested in being talked into unloading the truck in the warehouse because it'll speed up my selection process...even though that would also reduce costs to the store.

How is it benefitting the customer? You don't pay a cheaper price for using it and they aren't paying you to do the work.
You are supposed to steal 20% of your items because you are saving the company money. Duh.

Then give me a discount for doing 2/3’s of the work myself.
Just do like most other people and help yourself to a freebie every now and then, especially if you are a senior that gets “confused” easily.

I’m an old school person , I like to use the regular check stands
If I have 3 items I’ll do self checkout but that is very rare . I’m not self checking a basket full of shite

Don’t they realize these low end jobs are better off being automated
Nothing has been automated with self checkout, they’ve simply gotten rid of staff and made you do a little work at the end of your shopping trip.

I use Scan and Go at Sam's, amazes me to see long lines at the check out and self check out when customers have that option.
I prefer Costco overall but that’s one area that Sam’s is better.
Costco has self checkout but for some reason does not equip them with handheld scanners. That makes it pretty difficult/ pita with the heavy bulk items that they sell

The Sam's scan n go is freaking fantastic. I have no idea why anyone would not want to use that.

Let the old geezers/boomers clog up the regular checkout lanes while writing checks and holding everyone up. The younger generation can fly through the self check out.
The other way around at my store. There are FAR more people in self check out because they are stealing items. I breeze through the cash register line with a clerk. Fact.

Do you get paid to pump your own gas?
Do you deposit checks using the app on your phone?
Have you noticed people pulling grocery orders for pickup and/or delivery? Job Created because of technology.
Good luck waiting on those checkout jobs to come back

Whatever is quicker to get out of the store. I usually go to self checkout.

This is a really weird thing to care about.

How many of these people complained when ATMs and self-serve gas took over?
And do they only shop at brick and mortar?

Had an old woman say this very loudly the other day at Walmart. She was about seven people deep at a register when a manager asked if she wanted to do self checkout. "NOPE! I don't work for Walmart" she said.
Enjoy wasting an extra 30 minutes or so waiting in line and probably using a checkbook to pay for your items, you old bag.

Sounds like a Denham Springs, La problem.

I only use self checkout if available.
Unfortunately, the other day I went to check out at the Super Walmart in Covington, and when I started to scan my first item, the screen showed a total of $76.94 (Not paid)
I called over the young girl who was supposed to be watching the self checkout stations. She said "Oh, that was abandoned."
I asked her "So does that mean that the previous customer just left without paying?" She said yes and it happens all the time. It did not phase her at all.
Needless to say, that put me in a horrible mood the rest of the day.

I use them, but don't stop when they want to check my bags. If they trust me to check out, then trust me to walk out without stealing something.

Sorry.....I like advancements as much as the next guy but self-check out sucks. Whendid I become the employe? Hell, I still rememberwhen I did not have to pump my own gas.....and I am still bitter about that change
