Spending a week in France or Italy for your honeymoon doesn’t make you cultured or worldly.

it absolutely can. It all depends on what you do in these places. It doesn't take visiting a place for a month to become more in tune with their culture.

the longer you stay the better, but it's not like you don't gain some cultural knowledge in a week if you do it right.

Just because you haven't ever been out of Livingston Parish doesn't mean you get to shite on people who have.

I know this is a joke, but it probably sums up this board perfectly

I know a couple who are very (almost overly) passionate about traveling. They do well monetarily, and could have nicer stuff. New cars, bigger house, etc..but they don't want those things, because they want to travel. Seeing as much of the world while they are young is something they are passionate about.

you don't get to redefine "passion" and "hobby".

wait how does listing traveling as a hobby = avoiding responsibilities??

Yep. That's an odd equation.

I saw enough of the world in the military. Most of it out there is inferior to the US.

"I like to have fun." Well, yeah, who doesn't? Generally agree with the OP, although I will say flying is a beating and traveling with family/friends that have different routines can be stressful.

A lot of people don't enjoy traveling. A lot of people that's all they want to do. I don't see why saying it's an interest or hobby is a big deal. I have a friend who's probably never been more than 100 miles from his house and has no desire to, and another friend who is out of the country seemingly every other month. Different strokes for different folks.

talk about how "worldly" they are.

Anyone who does this is obviously a douche, but someone who travels frequently is obviously going to be a bit more cultured than some baw who takes his yearly vacation to Destin, Disney, or "skiing".

Agreed. Anyone who describes themselves as "worldly" is definitely a douche.

Oh, you enjoy not working, not doing house chores, and going out to eat at nice restaurants everyday? That’s a unique interest!

Avoiding responsibilities in a different location from where you normally live is not a hobby. “Traveling” doesn’t make you more cultured, worldly, or interesting.

So please, if you’re one of those people who list “traveling” as a hobby or passion, please stop. You’re embarrassing yourself
