People who say “traveling” is their hobbby

Oh, you enjoy not working, not doing house chores, and going out to eat at nice restaurants everyday? That’s a unique interest!
Avoiding responsibilities in a different location from where you normally live is not a hobby. “Traveling” doesn’t make you more cultured, worldly, or interesting.
So please, if you’re one of those people who list “traveling” as a hobby or passion, please stop. You’re embarrassing yourself.

You sho seem angry.
Who cares how others choose to spend their free time and money? And why does liking to travel automatically exclude all the other things you list?
Honestly, you sound like a poor person who takes the exciting family trip to Florida once a year. And the year we all went on that cruise! Oh boy what a treat!
It actually has the ability to do all of those things. Some of the most interesting people I know have traveled to all parts of the world, and getting to hear about the stuff they have done is fascinating to me.
I wouldn't call it a "passion" or a "hobby" per se, but I love traveling. This year alone, I've already gone to Iceland, and have a trip to London already set. Mexico City and Italy are being planned for this year as well. And that's just the international trips.
But enjoy staying in Arkansas...I guess.

Yes it does.

I mean, yes it can and does for many people. Now going to Destin? NO. Traveling the world? Yes, it does.
Sorry you have limited vacation days.

Someone is upset that his only vacation is being stuck taking the kids to Disney again.

In many cases, that's precisely what it does. If I go experience a different culture first hand and immerse myself in it, then by definition, how would I not then be more cultured?
Not everyone's interest are plugging away on turnarounds, going home to a fat wife in LP, drinking Busch Light and fishing in a flat bottom on their day off. Sorry to disappoint.

Traveling is spending an extended period of time where your personal enjoyment is the 100% focus. Nothing wrong with traveling, it’s a fun way to treat yourself, but to call it a hobby or passion is silly.

Traveling is most definitely a hobby. Some people spend their excess money on cars, crafts, hunting, fishing, etc. How the frick is travel NOT part of that?
You're a tool.

If someone spends all their extra money and time planning and going on trips.....I would consider that their hobby.

What hobby is NOT about personal enjoyment???
and what in the world does any of this have to do with avoiding responsibility??

I kinda see what you’re saying but many people don’t like traveling. My parents don’t. They rarely go anywhere. So I can see how traveling is a hobby.
And traveling absolutely does make you more worldly and cultured. It’s the only real way to experience multiple cultures.
