There are a few teachers I know who work second jobs expressly for the opportunity to travel during their Summer vacations. They earn $8K-10K doing odd jobs and choose a place to visit. It's a great "hobby" for single teachers and I simply tip my cap because they work their arse off to do it.

Traveling is spending an extended period of time where your personal enjoyment is the 100% focus. Nothing wrong with traveling, it’s a fun way to treat yourself, but to call it a hobby or passion is silly.

Now that’s how you double down.

Spending a couple weeks in Europe immersing yourself in food and beer isn’t much better than going to a Chinese buffet and acting like you became cultured from the experience.

Love how travel hobbiers like to say the “immerse” themselves, as if they’re going undercover as a spy and spends years learning the customs and how to fit in.

I see you keep doubling down on the stupidity of your original post. Interesting strategy.

Some of you get triggered over the silliest and most trivial shite.

I have to go to McAllen, TX next week. My personal enjoyment obviously doesn't figure into this.

Spending any amount of time with other cultures makes one more cultured than previously. The extent of your worldliness is open for discussion.

Food is culture. Many people also do things besides eat and drink on vacation, you know. Museums, history, hiking, etc. Immersing yourself into other countries and cities gives you some sense of how they live and is one reason why I love traveling.

You're right, traveling is not a hobby. It's simply an activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure...

it isn't their fault that you are either too poor to travel or bogged yourself down with too many responsibilities to do so.

Look, buddy, try adding a couple/three zeros to your bank roll, then maybe you’ll understand. Until then, buzz off with this acerbic tone.
