re: People who own or like snakes

I don't own snakes but they are fascinating creatures. I enjoy watching channels like viperkeeper on YT. There is a slight adrenaline rush watching him handle some of those things.

I’ve never seen a poisonous snake. Where are they native to?

A little unusual is a fair assessment. Trashy is going overboard. Allowing snakes for which you're responsible is trashy, but so is allowing any pet to run amuck.

While snakes do not meet my criteria for a good companion animal, I can tell you 4 kinds of animals orders of magnitude worse than snakes: spiders, hornets, raccoons, and crows. Far bigger assholes than snakes.

I get killing venomous snakes if their around your house but if you go around killing a native species because some ancient magic texts say your god's enemy took that form you are a real piece of shite.

The OP'ers hook was, for once, too shiny for me. Even so, as one of the deplorable Christian types (i.e., unrighteous) let me say that I can tell you haven't been around too many educated Christian people to understand that this is not par for the course.

Key word is "educated," as there are plenty of uneducated, idiotic people of all walks of life and all worldviews.

The only bad snake is a venomous one who's posted up in an area that the owner of the land or his friends/family/ employees frequent. Any place other than that and any person other than the landowner and you're an a-hole for killing a critically vital part of the ecosystem. You better not come on any of my land and kill a snake unless I point at it and point at you and say, "shoot it."

I know a guy who, last I checked, was adamant that there is no God of any kind who damn near totaled a brand new truck because he swerved over to hit a snake crossing the road and left the shoulder. Word has it that the snake was a chicken snake.

I hate rats and I deplore idiots.

I know a guy who'll ruin his hunt in order to go out of his way and kill a snake - any snake - that he sees while he is out in their neck of the woods.

Very few things are as pathetic as a "weekend warrior" type outdoorsman, aka, a "Sport": He can't paddle a canoe, scout for game sign, tie shite down with only a rope, or any of the other stuff that an actual real woodsman can do, and if he winds up being your neighboring landowner or you find yourself in the same block of public woods and waters as him, he inevitably ruins the entire area he's in by his stupidity. There's a closely connected trend between guys who commit wanton waste against reptiles they deem as being "icky" and guys who sit around and wait for the fishing report and absolutely divine weather conditions before they'll go.

I hate a cottonmouth because they're nasty, ugly and in many of the immediate areas where they reside, they're overpopulated. I've almost bitten so many times because there are so many of them that I hate them even more, but if I'm somewhere off the beaten path and I see one and have the immediate capability to kill it with a firearm even though he will likely never pose a threat to me again, then I still don't kill him.

Copperheads and rattlesnakes are some of the most beautiful animals in the North American continent's natural kingdom.

I'm not saying that you are, but if you're thinking about it, then don't be like the trolling OP'er and stoop to his level by finalizing in your mind that, just like all snakes are bad, all 2.2 billion Christians who walk the face of the planet think every snake should be executed on the spot because God said so. He did not say that: For people like the OPer, it's a primal fear of a possibly dangerous animal that compels him to use God as an excuse so he can lay waste to His serpents that He put here for a very important purpose.

Score one for the snakes when an idiot is trying to kill one with a stick out in the middle of the woods and winds up getting bitten by it. Humans are inherently ignorant, especially when it comes down to scenarios like, "I can keep walking and absolutely dodge natural selection or I can stay and scratch my primal itch to kill the serpent whose presence I'm in with hand-to-hand combat."

How many times have we heard the rest of the story?
