People push for ‘safety’ because they don’t want to feel bad about being scared

Not all, but a significant number IMO.

They can’t imagine riding a motorcycle without a helmet / not wearing a mask / not needing a guardrail / etc. and when you don’t feel bothered by any of that it makes them feel stupid or weak.

But the kids. Same: They don’t like seeing parenting that makes them feel like they are weak about their choices or fears.

My wife is so overcautious driving that she becomes an obstacle and creates a lot of road rage. I just slide down low in the passenger seat...

I assume you're drunk during these instances and can't properly drive yourself and your no driving arse wife.

My wife has an irrational fear of our new woodchipper.

You should slide down low because you're letting your wife drive you around, not because she's a bad driver.

I mean, you do you. But if something so simple as putting on a helmet can prevent you from dying at the hands of other idiots on the road, then it’s a simple choice. Going without one just makes you look stupid.

Dumb take OP.

I’ll make a deal.

No helmet? Fine. No medical care for head injuries.

I hate these assholes that injure themselves doing dangerous shite and then the insurance companies or Medicaid has to pay for their treatment and the all other sorts of benefits from the Government because they can’t work for an extended period. All on my risk pool Premium and taxes I pay.

frick them. Let them be a cripple on the side of the road selling gum/water to survive.

you started this topic and bitched about motorcycle stuff instead of bitching about how cops harass taxpayers with inspection sticker checkpoints instead of going after actual criminals

c'mon man nobody still rides motorcycles in the age of get run over by a woman texting. If you want to be a real man get a big truck and that woman texting won't even hurt you

a helmet doesn't prevent you from dying

The helmet laws are mostly for ems people so they don't have to see brains all over the road

Saw a guy pull out of the Harley place on Siegen and almost immediately ran under the back of a box trailer. He had a helmet on, I saw it rolling down Siegen, with his head still in it.

My question is, why can I get a ticket for not having a seatbelt on in an F250 but motorcycles are ok ?

So, not to protect the bike driver from a devastating potentially deadly head injury in an accident. Wild take. Zero chance I'd ever be surrounded by nothing but air during highway or interstate speeds without a helmet.

An inordinate number of posters on here are convinced that they're NASCAR drivers and speed and weave in and out of traffic, but then they're afraid to go to big cities because big cities are dangerous and you can get murdered!

You realize your brain isn't attached to your skull right? it has plenty of room to bounce around in there not to mention if you get thrown off of a motorcycle at any kind of speed your brain might not be your worst problem

Look at most of the helmets motorcyclists wear, they're just a formality to avoid a ticket

I know exactly what you mean...went skydiving the other day and was absolutely disgusted by the number of pussies using parachutes. Completely ruined the experience
