maybe or maybe not
The Innocent Spouse Doctrine is a legal principle that allows an innocent co-insured spouse to recover insurance proceeds for intentionally destroyed property, even if the other spouse committed the wrongful act (such as arson). Historically, many courts barred recovery to prevent the wrongdoer from indirectly benefiting from community property interests, but the modern majority rule now favors allowing the innocent spouse to recover.

Several highly publicized, literal interpretations of "splitting everything in half" in divorces have made headlines. In these extreme—and frequently staged or legally problematic—cases, frustrated partners literally sawed homes and belongings in two, as documented by CNN and reported by Reuters.
Think this was a little worse. I was lucky during my divorce. My X was very level headed. Didn't fight over anything. And 15 years later, we are still friends. Our personalities just didn't click.

Surprised no one has asked this question yet:

Next time I get arrested, I'm doing my best to catch a "causing a catastrophe" charge.

If the wife and kids weren't in the house, I'd say "based"
