I can't imagine how awful it would be to look at people's rotten teeth all day

College is pretty much bullshite unless you’re going into engineering or the sciences for a purpose. Prerequisite for medical school. Business degree can be valuable. Otherwise completely worthless.
Our daughter just started high school (albeit eighth grade). I would love her to skip college altogether. I think she would be great running a spa and makeup type place. I actually talked to my wife about it. We start the business and let her run it. if it fails, it fails. If it’s successful, then the sky is the limit.
Honest to God, college is becoming for fools at this point unless you have a future follow up plan.

My welders are making $200k after overtime. I’m just pushing paper in the front office while they stack cash and talk child support.
Who are you with? My son in law is a welder. 12 years experience.

Oldest will be a senior at Minnesota next year, Chemistry major. There are a lot of different pathways for that major, Industry, Research, Healthcare, Education, Business, etc. I can see AI supplementing research but not replacing it and it can't replace straight up lab work.

Did you consider that by the time that 10 year old picks up a welding torch, an AI driven robot will be able to do it much better/faster/cheaper.

Truth is no one has a clue.
We don't have any idea what the job market will look like in 4 or 5 years.
We don't know much about the next 12 months.
Colleges aren't going anywhere because they are huge money makers and it's going to take some time for people to realize they are being scammed.
The rate of change will not be comparable to anything that has happened prior.

Teach kids to think critically an be adaptable, continuous learning. World will change at rapid pace so this is the only thing that creates a hedge.

You just mentioned a variety of majors where college is useful…

Same here. My oldest 22 works for the city. He is happy. Now my 17 yo JR in HS. Not sure. He wants a job and I’m in oil and gas. But I have a degree. But he wouldn’t make it from what I see. shite. I’m at a loss.
Told him. I’ll get you on a frac crew for 2 years. Live at home rotate 2 weeks and you will change you mind. We will see. Bad part it’s just me and him. Mom died last year. So I’d welcome him to stay with me as long as he wants to

Kid 1, senior, is going to college to be a secondary education math teacher.
Kid 2, freshman, currently wants to be an occupational therapist and work with kids.
Kid 3, still too young, wants to be a vet. Long ways away.
Do whatever you want. I tried convincing Kid 1 to be an Engineer because she is awesome at math. Nope.

CRNA and subspecialty PAs can make bank with less schooling and liability
Probably true for PA, but CRNAs are getting lit up lately with lawsuits.
CRNA’s were starting to get the ability to act independently before COVID, but COVID pushed it out even more.
If you’re going to replace the anesthesiologist, expect anesthesiologist levels of lawsuits.

What jobs does Biomedical Engineering actually relate to?
Working in the medical device manufacturing world, designing and engineering items used in healthcare - pacemakers, joints, implants or all types, etc. Also medical machines, such as sanitizing equipment, etc.
Could also work in the pharmaceutical industry, or even food sciences.

Haven't they (the powers that be) increased the education requirements for CRNA, also? Used to be a 28 monty (or so) graduate program, but it's now a full 3 years for a doctorate? Is that part of it, overall?

If they are acting independently yeah
But most places in LA at least still have docs
Usually a 4:1 or so ratio

The people that sell services and shite to married women that play tennis and "lunch" make a fortune. $40k a MONTH gross at a Pilates studio in my neighborhood, for instance. Almost no expenses after buildout (which isn't much.)
