Everyone here talking about you drinking alcohol and hungover like they diagnosed why it happened but I don't believe that.
.
I'm 43 and just had my first huge panic attack 3 weeks ago. I was so worried that I immediately called my wife. I had not drank alcohol in about 10 days and this panic attack just came out of nowhere. I've always been laid back, strong minded but this hit me for no apparent reason.

I used to have them every time I watched Brian Kelly’s LSU.

Damn, no wonder our country is in the shitter. It seems 50% of the people in this thread have panic attacks. All men. If this is even close to a representation of men in our nation, I am throwing out all hope that we can ever be the country that we once were where 1/2 of men weren’t on a mental roller coaster like liberal women. I wonder what the age break down is for people in this thread? I assume most of the panic attacks victims are under 45. This was not that prevalent in the 70s and 80s.

I was actually almost committed from them. Long story short I went almost 3 years with a bad gallbladder and didn’t know it because the symptoms weren’t normal. I would just be doing any normal day activity and all of a sudden my heart rate would jump up to 200 or so bpm. Doctors put me on antidepressants and benzos. I didn’t get better and only got worse. I lost 50 pounds and was skin and bones and eventually a nurse said she thought she knew what was wrong. My gallbladder was tested and pulled the same day, I was septic at that point.

The only panic attacks I've had were due to claustrophobia and medical imaging machines.. nothing at all to do with alcohol.
And even then I was able to calm down and get into the MRI tube. Hated it, but got it done.

Jesus this thread is sad. Whatever happened to guys like Gary Cooper? The strong, silent type. That was an American. He wasn't in touch with his feelings. He just did what he had to do.

Same. It is crippling. I've been trying to cut back, which was solidified today when I was very anxious all day long.
They put me on Prozac several months ago, and it has made it 100000x worse the day after a weekend of drinking. Mondays have been brutal for me.
It was a fun run, but thinking I just gotta reign it in these days.

By the time I made it outside I was sweating profusely and out of breath. I sat down on the steps in front of the gym for about a while until I felt under control. I went to the car and drove home. It was terrible.
This happened to me after an appointment recently. As I'm at the desk paying, I tell the girl I think I'm going to pass out and fanning myself, and she just awkwardly runs my card.
Didn't want to pass out in there so I got my card back from her and practically crawled to my car in the summer heat praying I don't pass out and hit my head. Made it into my car, got it turned on with the AC blasting, and leaned out and threw up.
Took a good 15 minutes to stop sweating and feel good enough to drive.
This has all been since starting an SSRI and drinking on it. I think I know the answer here.
During the week when I'm not drinking, I feel absolutely outstanding now. It's the alcohol interaction.
I can drink in moderation and be fine. It's the busy weekend antics that are getting me badly.

Propranolol has been a life saver for me with anxiety attacks and my general anxiety
I've heard this. Isn't this the one that handles the physical effects of anxiety, like tremors/shaking? I have this soooooooo badly now. Tremors, and nausea.

No one who’s ever experienced one would mock them.
It’s caused by an adrenaline dump. Idk why that has such a stigma with people. I’d guess most don’t know.

I’ve lost count how many I’ve had since 2011. 100+ easily. Always during nighttime sleep. No one can nail it down.
Always wonder if Jordan Jefferson did this. No lie.

I use it for work related things from time to time. Public speaking, difficult meetings, etc. It doesn't do much for the mental side of things, but it for sure calms your body down to keep from getting in the feedback loop of mental anxiety followed by physical symptoms followed by more mental anxiety from those physical symptoms. It's been a game changer for me.

It’s one of alcohols finest and shiniest hooks because you can get rid of that by simply mixing a drink first thing in the morning. Don’t do this, but this is what many do to alleviate the feelings leading to physical addiction and rehab or death.

Much more common in men these days when this was not the case in past generations. Much can be attributed to high estrogen / low T men and hormone imbalances

I’ve never had a panic attack but I imagine from the explanation it’s probably similar to being in detox for a week or two after going on a years long binge.
Basically the worst imaginable feelings/pain/sweat/racing heart etc. while your body adjusts to not having what it craves.
