I use to swim to the second sand bar and back every morning from April to October for almost 10 years. I’ve been bumped by a shark on several occasions but that’s about it.

The first time I was bumped by a shark would have been the last time.

That said, I kiteboard in the Gulf of America, and shark concerns are in the back of my mind. But I’ve never seen one.

We saw about a 5 ft bull shark cruising down the coast in Florida a few years ago. He was clearing the water for a good half mile until we stopped tracking it. It was maybe in thigh deep water.

Does anyone else have this......I guess problem:

Anytime you see an amputee the first thing you think is, "I bet it was a shark attack."?

Happened to me on Chandeleur on a weekend camping trip back in high school.

Scared the fertilizer out of me.

It wasn't the case here, but most people dont realize a big arse shark can swim in 4 feet of water. I caught a ~ 5 foot one on a spinner bait in lake decade in about a foot of water, and that is big enough to screw your day up if it wants to.

There’s a video of a dude getting eaten by a huge shark a few years ago that is hard to watch.

I think it was in Egypt.

almost 40 years ago to the day!

Fishing past sand bar at GI, sun was down touching the water buddy and both lost big trout to sharks we each had 40-50 on our stringers …. And about time I was saying maybe we oughtta……. Both our stringer got hit hard and the swoosh behind the heads were about 7 feet back…. We were trying to walk in water getting out of there…. Stringers were still getting hit in 2 feet of water.

On shore between us we had 18 intact trout.

In one spot I had 4 heads with partial carcasses bookending an intact trout on each side / those were not little sharks….

I was a stout 6’1 185 then and the first hit almost pulled me under….

Sunrise and sunset no bueno

think that is an old video from somewhere else from a year or 2 ago. Could be wrong but it looks familiar.

You might be thinking of that video from Egypt where that shark fricked that Russian guy to death.

I still can't get that video out of my head. I wish I would not have seen it.

supposedly a Russian tourist. His father was on the beach watching (or so the story goes). By the time a boat got to him there wasn't much left. Tough video to watch.
Also had a diver in Australia eaten last year. Bloody water and the last roll of the shark were visible on film. The gulls feeding on the bits and pieces looked like a scene straight out of Jaws.

I was bonefishing in Bahamas in thigh deep water. I caught a bonefish after a pretty long fight. After landing and releasing the fish , I noticed a shark fin slowly tracking the bubble trail left by the bonefish. It was mesmerizing watching him track. I had nowhere to run to as our boat was probably 100 yards away. I just froze and the 5 to 6 foot shark swam right to me. I hit him on top of the head with my fly rod and he spooked. The guide told me it was a bull shark.
