Wonder if that Shark Tracer website picked up this specific shark.

When I got older and my intelligence level came up, I made a deal with the sharks: I will stay out of your house if you will stay out of mine.

I think that is an old video from somewhere else from a year or 2 ago. Could be wrong but it looks familiar.

There was a confirmed shark attack near Tyndall AFB this week, whether thats a video from it or not I dont know.

I go to the panhandle beaches every year and that’s why I stay my arse on the beach .

The sharks dont bother you if you dont swim past the second sand bar, dont swim late at night and avoid areas like marinas where bait fish and people are in effect feeding them with chum.

The number of shark attacks on 30A/Emerald Coast historically are negligible, the real threat is rip currents. Those get a couple people every year who cant swim, dont know what to do if caught in one or who ignore the red flags.

How about a pitbull puppy?

I was surf fishing a few weeks ago down here in pcola beach. As I was wading out to cast, a 5 or 6 foot shark swam in front of me, about 8 feet away. Just cruised on by. As long as the water is clear and I can see them they aren't that scary. If the water is murky and I can't see, I am not going out very far at all.

Murky water especially in a pass or inlet is asking to get lit up by a bull shark.

I was scared pretty much the whole time I was wade fishing at the Chandeleurs.

I've been swimming with sharks quite often. Never bothered me to be in the water with them. I was with my ex and some friends in North Carolina several years ago, and it was overcast along with some choppy water. We were all in, and I'd gone out a little bit farther than they had when I felt something hit my leg then brushed by. Not just a bump, and then it felt like sandpaper on my leg for a second. I knew it was a shark but couldn't see it.

I calmly made my way back over to them, and told the other husband we needed to get out but not freak out the girls. So I just told them lets go get something to eat. We didn't tell them why until after we'd left the beach that evening.

Maybe a week later, there was a shark attack right where we'd been. Close call. I still have no problem swimming in the ocean, even at night.

This makes no sense. So you wouldn't be scared if instead of swimming on by it turned and headed straight for you? As long as you can see it come to attack you it's not scary? Because if you are insinuating that because you can see it, there is something you can do about it if it decides to come after you, you are merely giving yourself a false sense of being safe.

I’ve never really liked to swim to begin with, but two events within the span of a year really made me think about getting in the water other than to get wet to cool off.

Went to the Keys and walked that old bridge to Pigeon Key next to the Seven Mile Bridge. Looking down you could see a shite ton of sharks, some close to the shore. Next summer I was surf fishing in a different part of Florida, standing calf deep in clear water. Caught some sort of small shark. Freaked me out.

A shark generally isnt going to just missile towards a human and attack them from a long distance. Almost all shark attacks are from sharks "bumping" into someone while they are browsing and then biting them. This is why its creepy wading in murky water. And stingrays.

If you can see that a shark is calmly swimming at a safe distance, then the shark can see you, its highly unlikely that its going to bump into you. And seeing as how humans arent prey to sharks they almost certainly arent going to beeline towards you and attack you.

If the highly impropable happens and a shark were to actually beeline it towards me from 8 feet out of a calm swim, then yes, id rather be able to see it and at least have the chance of putting my big pole between me and it.

Now big great whites are obviously a little different, but there arent enough of those in the gulf to really even consider.

I had a 3-4 footer take my stringer when i was 11 or 12 at Elmers island. I think they have had a shark attack at the Chandeleurs in recent years and may have been first in La waters
