Imagine the tech is only as good as it is right now and will only get better

I'm sure it will.

That is the way of things.
Moore's Law, etc.

The biggest issue is infrastructure and the physics of charging.

Abhorrent EV depreciation after 7-8 years isn't likely to change unless batteries go way down in price, though

It's inevitable at this point of the tech. I wouldn't bet against billions of dollars of investment not improving it in some fashion

Is 70% the most ideal charge? Elon had a good explanation on charging on his last JRE.

According to Elon, the speed of charging slows down after 70%. He likened it to parking at the mall. Once 70% of the spots are filled, the electrons need to “drive around looking for an empty spot “.

Should have just carried a generator in the back of the pickup truck.

It would be, except Bill Gates is a hypocritical liar. He's all about controlling what we should all be doing, but him and his ultra wealthy friends not so much.

EV vehicles are meant to save gas!! Not time.

Imagine what a 10 year-old EV will be worth?

Basically nothing. Warranty on battery is gone and replacement cost will be double what they paid for it to start with.

Get an EV for your commute and short local drives. Charge at home. Take the family ICE vehicle on the road trips. This is the best way for sensible adoption.

So buy an extra car. No thanks.

Seems like the popular locations will just get backed up more. With every car needing at least 15 minutes unlike a gas staton with each car needing like 3 minutes

You are missing a key factor that every car will have a full tank every morning from charging overnight. EV cars don't need to go to the gas station ever in a lot of situations.

I base everyone of my vehicle purchases on their performance during hurricane evacuations not everyday driving situations said no one ever except well, you

Watch lease rate/returns on EVs.

The wholesale market has already figured this out as auction prices for EVs have fallen much faster than ICE vehicles.

You can double your range if you purchase 2 EVs.

Unless your evac was very short and relatively traffic-free (lol) using an EV would be foolish for the task.

The lines are bad enough at gas stations during an evacuation, can you imagine trying to recharge an EV en-route?

I doubt that a 15-minute recharge r is ever a real thing, unless it is just a partial to get to the next charging station so you stop. Again.

If I was evacuating with my family during a hurricane, I'd prolly just take the ICE full size truck rather than the compact car EV.

Someone's never evaced from an hurricane.

Funny. We had a guy that had to work remotely for three weeks after Ida because he evacuated to Florida in his Tesla and, well, you know……

EVs would be better for hurricane evacuation in the vast majority of situations. It'll be fully charged when you leave home so stopping tk charge isn't really going to be a thing. You're ICE vehicle will likely not have a full tank which means you'll be stopping to fill up sooner
