Main concern here is having to talk about the wife. don't want it to turn into a pity party.
You don't really have to. If she asks, just tell her you are widowed and explain what you are comfortable with. Keep the pics up. She will always be your kids' mother regardless of who you date.
You are way overthinking this. Just go out and have fun. If you start buying into too many "rules" (call back times, 3rd date, etc.) you're going to look like Ben Afflect counting his fight choreography steps in BvS.
Codolences on the loss of your wife.

Do you use Match? Being a lawyer and all. Chicks would dig that.

I would say be who you are and don't hide anything first of all. You might not have to volunteer the information on the first day, but I would not try to hide the fact your wife passed away and that you have kids. Leave the pictures up, it's your family. As for as age, I'd say no matter what, as long as she is 21 or above there should be no problem. If she doesn't have a problem with it then there isn't a problem.
As for as the numbers thing and everything else, just let it all work itself out. You can set rules but it all depends on the people.

not sure about the other shite cause I been tied down for a long time..but I have always heard this...you should wait one month for every year you were married before you start dating... so 14 years married = 14 months single
This is a bunch of stupid shite from people who haven't been in the situation. Do what feels right and makes you feel good. BUT... Don't get remarried anytime soon IMO. Not an arbitrary amount of time, just don't do it soon. Date and even be exclusive to one woman if you want but don't get married.

The only men more desired by women than married men are wodowers because it shows that they're quality enough because someone married them, but there's no wife/ex-wife drama to worry about and no moral delimmas regarding breaking up a marriage.
They also fit into the "I can fix him" mold and bring out the nurturers.
Basically, you can hit all of the major appeals at once
Financial security
Proven commodity
Tortured Soul/mysterious
Fixer-upper
All you have to be is decent looking and moderately fun and you're shooting fish in a barrel.

Family pictures... when I go out my kids will either be at their grandparent's or an aunt and uncle's house. If I leave the family pictures up (which I intend to) will that be creepy as hell?
Not if it's pics of your kids. Wife might be weird.
If my wife dies and I date again down the road, I sure as shite am not hiding pictures of her to not weird out new pussy I'm with. No fricking chance.
But I love my wife.

My friend's wife passed away from cancer just over a year ago, and he is going through the same thing. No advice that I can give you other than take your time. As others have said, there will be plenty of opportunities...you can be selective. Best of luck, and I'm sorry for your loss.

If I did my math right and you're 38, don't count on going out with too many 21 year Olds.

I don't get on it but my buddies have profiles and they let me take a peek. Pretty good talent on there.
