Did you access it through a phone, or use your home IP address?

That's so cute. Did you also get on the Do Not Call list, allowing them to have a phone number that they know a live person is attached to?

Look I know they are spying on us like crazy and selling our data etc but I do fail to see how that makes them able to sell me shite I don't want to buy or to show me content I don't click on

I get it. If a thread is seven pages, I'm probably not going to scan every post. But fark...

This isn't rocket surgery. They're trying to discourage the use of 3rd party apps to order, because it wipes out their margins.

quote:
Uber takes a cut of between 20 to 30 percent of all orders, a high margin but one that has become commonplace with the growth of DoorDash

If you order McDonalds through the McDonalds app, rather than through Uber Eats or Door Dash, the restaurant doesn't pay the fee. So they can afford to give you a free QPC, etc.

Yeah. Corporations should definitely strive to NOT make money. That will lead to lots of innovation and new / better products as they strive to not pay dividends to their shareholders. Right Comrade? From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.

People need to realize our personal information has a real value that we’re giving away for free.

So what is your solution?

1. They don’t need someone to take your order. It’s hard to find people with the soft skills to create a pleasant experience and it costs money to have them in place.
2. Average check is higher on apps because of upselling opportunities. The more you spend, the more they make.
3. Accuracy rates are higher, so you’re more likely to return
4. it’s a medium through which they can track your spending behavior and entice you to return in the event you become a lapsed customer. They can advertise to you for free, basically.
5. Busy fast food restaurants have a revenue bottleneck at the drive thru. Their revenue is capped by how many orders they can process in a certain period of time. The app moves people through the line more quickly, thus increasing throughput and, therefore, revenue

I’m sure there are more benefits I’m not considering, but these are substantial factors to the restaurant. They want to condition this ordering behavior, so they offer discounts to encourage it.

I never tried it but don't eat a lot of fast food anyway. Not sure why there are promotions/special prices that are only available when ordering through the app.

I probably use an app for 90% of my food orders now.

If you ever have any type of customization, it definitely beats telling the dumbass in person that doesn’t write anything down

I fight off inflation with app orders.

There hasn’t been an occasion in a couple years now where I paid more than $5 for a subway footlong. Brings back the days of the 2004 Michael Strahan jingle in my head every time I hit the order button.

Bogo footlong code in app: FLBOGO

I always just buy 2 at a time and either one will be for my wife or I’ll eat the other one the next day for lunch

ETA the best part of it though is pulling up and seeing a line in-store a dozen people long and just walking right up to the register and grabbing your food while everyone wonders why they didn’t do that

it’s the only way I’ll order from them. The drive thru here is a crapshoot.

I find myself getting irrationally annoyed by people that wait to order at the drive through. Get the app or go inside but get out of my way.

Will app pricing go up to standard pricing when "everyone" is conditioned to use the app?
