We have a few in NOLA but what i do is buy an off the rack suit. Then go to this Spanish lady who cuts the suit apart and puts it back together in the perfect size for $100-150 depending.

How much would you expect to pay for a suit there? My son just graduated college and doesn’t have a suit.
Total guess, $800.00 and up. Last suit I bought from them was 2-3 years ago and I can't remember what I paid. But it fits great and looks great every time I put it on. Just depends on what your son wants. McLavy has conservative, business style, traditional suits. Not the shite you see sports casters wearing with tennis shoes on ESPN or "skinny" suits as are popular in some circles. But he will never be dressed inappropriately at a business meeting or formal event if he buys from there.

They still exist they just do not compete with the places most men buy clothes today. If you got the money there are most likely a couple of places close to the house where you can dress as fine or more so today than at any time in the history of men's fashion....it just ain't cheap.

That's a shame, didn't know they had fallen off after bankruptcy. All of my Brooks Brothers clothes are older from when they still made stuff in America.

I still buy the shirts. They’re OK but significantly lower quality than pre bankruptcy. For example they now have polyester into the fabric and there are definitely some quality control issues with the stitching.

Everyone's too obese and trashy to need a menswear store these days. The dress code for most weddings is "good jeans" and Heydudes
Sadly this is true
Often I am the only guy wearing a suit at a wedding.
Went to a wedding last year with reception at Houston CC, think that was the last time everybody was dressed in a civilized fashion.

Do you own a lot of pajamas?

Just drive to Houston and go to the Brooks Brothers on Westheimer if you want a nice suit.
8hr round trip drive, plus incidentals, then maybe another trip. Thanks, but no…

I'm not sure if LC counts as "mid city" as we're about 85k
While there's no hard and fast rule, obviously, anything below 200k is generally considered "small". Baton Rouge is usually considered a small mid-sized city, for context.

Go to a Sunday service at your local southern baptist black church. Ask the OGs, they know where the local menswear store is that will get you fresh

Even DH Holmes uses to have career folks in different departments who remembered you and could guide you well. Now, it is clerks except for some dinosaurs.
My go to in a February when quality suits were marked down 50% and Holmes had knowledgeable tailors. This was obviously back when dinosaurs still roamed the earth. Maybe five still hanging in my closet, some from the 80's that still fit.
Had to buy a Mens Warehouse suit once while out of town for a sudden funeral. Dropped it off at Goodwill when I got home.

I love some good haberdash.
My first suit I ever bought on my own I went into Johnny's Menware in Houma. He asked me what I needed and I told him I needed a general suit to wear to weddings and funerals and for my engagement photos. He said how much you looking to spend. I said $4-500. He shows me a suit with a $750 price tag. I said this ones over my budget. He said I wont sell you anything for more than you said you wanted to spend. Walked out of there with a tailored suit, 2 shirts and 2 ties for $500. After that experience I bought a few more suits from him. You don't really get service like that anymore.
