If you rode it and your mom owned it - wouldn’t that make it domesticated?

We’ll do wild dogs next, but no I haven’t for bear or horses yet. Would love to though.

Yes, saw some on a large pipeline in Vernon Parish a few months ago while out there working.

A few months before we were working out there after a rain and there were a bunch of tracks and horse shite in the road. We thought somebody was out there riding, and a local told us no, it was the wild horses.

One of them walked out in the road in front of me yesterday. Middle of the day, pouring rain…horse walking across entrance road.

Yes…I’ve never seen a wild horse in Louisiana. I saw a damned bear in West Monroe three weeks ago

In the past year and a half we've gotten a black bear in East Texas that likely crossed the Sabine. Nobody's shot it yet. And it's wandered across three or four counties.

Pretty sure I saw one while sitting on a deer stand at Ft Polk in 1998.

LDWF has documented several occurrences since 2002. The first cougar sighting was in 2002 by an employee at Lake Fausse Point State Park.

I definitely saw several "cougars" on the prowl in Leesville bars!

There's a couple wild horses that hang out in the marsh by the Point Aux Chene Marina.

You may want to reread the quote I posted. Fausse Point State Park the first of several confirmed sightings across the state.

Here is the next sentence of the article:

quote:

Three trail camera photos were taken of a cougar in Winn, Vernon and Allen parishes in 2008. Subsequently on Nov. 30, 2008, a cougar was shot and killed in a neighborhood by Bossier City Police Department.

I'm assuming that these sightings are close enough to Ft Polk for you.

Louisiana also has a population of wild sheep known as The Gulf Coast Sheep. I had one (domesticated of course)

Here’s the first paragraph of the article

LINK

(Gulf Coast Sheep: Also Known As: Florida Native, Louisiana Native,

Spanish sheep first arrived in Florida in the 1500's. Later importations of Spanish and other breeds of sheep mixed with the earlier population, all evolving under the strong natural selection of the native range conditions of Florida and the other Gulf Coast states. Today a remnant of this population survives and is known as the Gulf Coast. (Populations in Florida and Louisiana are often called "Florida Native" and "Louisiana Native" respectively)

No horses but goats near Thompson creek in East Feliciana parish. As wild as the whitetails in the area.
