On a similar vein to the La. Black Bear, anyone ever seen wild horses in Louisiana?

had a college prof that had a couple hundred acres near Boston/Henry, I’d help him work and he’d let me hunt there, there were a few wild horses across the inter coastal from his farm, some cattle that would not be caught too

Horses are not similar to black bears.

Is one more elusive than the other to being spotted in the wilds of Louisiana?
That's what I was sort of curious about.

Saw them in Kisatchie when I was hiking the Wild Azalea Trail.

I have. They have a few in lower Terrebone Parish. It's wild to see horses in the marsh.

I’ve seen them in Pointe aux Chenes

Just replace West Central Louisiana with West Baton Rouge La and replace horses with strippers, and the Crazy Horse Cabaret would have the perfect "About Us" section of its website

I don’t think those are wild. I was told someone feeds them regularly.

Yes I saw the Kisatchie horses a few months ago when I was last in the area. Right next to 165 in Woodworth

My Dad said that when he was in high school (1950’s) there were wild horses on Grand Isle

I've seen them in Kisatchie. Although one was a gelding. So feral and recently. Maybe he just escaped and joined the herd.
Other than that they looked very wild and most likely most had not been touched by humans before.

I had some friends in college stationed at Ft. Polk that said there were some out there.
Speaking of Kisatchie...you will like this story if you haven't read about it yet.

The rifle shot echoed through the tall pine trees of the Kisatchie National Forest, a shot that killed the last buffalo in Louisiana. That buffalo, the commonly misused name for an American bison, was the last of a herd that routinely migrated from the Great Plains across the Sabine River into western Louisiana.

Yes . . . Fort Polk. We would usually share a firing point with a herd every morning. I'm not sure why but they would usually leave once we started to crank up the howitzers!
The urban legend at the time is that when Fort Polk training area was formed. The gov't used eminent domain to acquire the land and livestock. Property owners were told to take their personal belongings but the livestock had to stay. I have no idea if this was true.
I also saw road runner and what I believe was a cougar at Ft Polk.

It amazes me how many people spend their entire lives in Louisiana and have no clue about things like this.
I’ve known several people from southeast Louisiana that have never even been to other parts of the state like Natchitoches for example.

Yep. There's a bunch in Kisatchie in Cenla. I've come across them South of Alexandria, and towards Peason Ridge. I've also seen wild horses in the marshes of South LA. That's the craziest thing I've ever seen, saltwater marsh horses. I once came across a coyote swimming across a big arse bay west of Leeville. I mean, miles from land. I have no idea where that lost critter was coming from. Must have been Cocodrie.

I've actually been on the trail in Kisatchie and honestly had no clue about this.
And I've, of course, been to Natchitoches.
I guess it's a funny thing, the sort of trivial facts that can elude people.
ETA, however in thinking, I do sort of recall hearing about some possible small herds of random horses in the marshes that nobody really claimed, but I've never seen those and thought as someone else stated, they might not be exactly "wild." I knew zilch about these Kisatchie ones, though.
