WINFIELD: Folks should CEASE travel as far south as Carbon Hill all the way to the state line. This is in Winfield and people are sliding all over the overpasses. Conditions continue to deteriorate as we progress through the evening. #alwx

Here in NE AL, this storm beats all I’ve ever seen. The folks I was paying attention to were forecasting as far back as Friday that a boundary would form just southeast of the Tennessee River and would likely keep snow at and north of the river. I am just barely over in DeKalb County, literally 1-2 miles as the crow flies from Jackson County and I promise we haven’t had the first bit of frozen precipitation, except for a couple of 5 minute rounds of sleet this afternoon. Rain only with the temp holding steady at 33-34 degrees. Just barely over into Jackson County, they have fairly substantial snow cover. I have never seen a winter weather forecast around here so dead on, and I have never seen a boundary hold so steady for almost 24 hours like this one has. Looking at the radar, I really don’t think we are going to end up with any snow here. Might not even have much of a freezing rain issue.

Latest high res models are pulling back on freezing rain totals beyond Ascension/Assumption/Livingston.

Bad news is both the NAM and HRRR models are painting a narrower strip covering BR totaling over .20 inches.

Now the low in da parish is supppsed to be 28 tomorrow morning. Rain all night but rain ending just before temp drops below 32.

Would 28 be enough to cause wet roads to freeze over and get icy?

Disappointed on the Birmingham NWS. Haven't updated their graphics since 4:47 AM.
Maybe there hasn't been any need to?
