State offices are closed tomorrow statewide. Schools are definitely going to be closed.

What is your definition of SE LA? And where’d you get your meteorological degree from, Mississippi State, ULM, or Oklahoma? Somewhere else?

Freezing rain doesn’t “accumulate” like snow. Do you even know what freezing rain is?

Easy to see where the wintry precipitation is falling with road and travel issues from Houston, TX, all the way to Lexington, KY.

100% sleet now. Hardest it’s been. Temp dropped to 28 so hopefully whatever else we get will at worst be sleet.

quote:
Freezing rain occurs when snowflakes descend into a warmer layer of air and melt completely. When these liquid water drops fall through another thin layer of freezing air just above the surface, they don't have enough time to refreeze before reaching the ground. Because they are “supercooled,” they instantly refreeze upon contact with anything that that is at or below freezing (32 degrees F), creating a glaze of ice on the ground, trees, power lines, or other objects. Even light accumulations can cause dangerous travel, while heavier amounts can cause significant damage to trees and power lines. A significant accumulation of freezing rain lasting several hours or more is called an ice storm.

Maybe you should have done a bit of research yourself

I didn’t say it didn’t accumulate. I said it doesn’t “accumulate like snow.” It won’t be freezing rain until, you know, the temperature is at or below freezing.
