re: RIP Ron Abernathy Asst. Basketball Coach 1976- 1989

I'm from Humboldt Tn where coach Abernathy coached our high school boys basketball team for the past 12 years....He was a great coach and even a better person. He had just announced his retirement back in March....Below is a fine tribute from the local sports journalist.

re: When at a diner do you use the tabletop condiments?
Posted by gladchiefisgone on 7/4/26 at 10:01 pm to HogBalls
I read an article a couple years back that the worst thing as far as virus... bacteria is touch the menu and condiments in a restaurant. The other thing was to never us the hand blow dryer in the bathroom...it blows stuff from off the floor and walls that you inhale. The article said it was best to dry your hands on your clothes than to use the blower.

re: Why doesn’t our society ever talk about how few Korean War vets are left?
Posted by gladchiefisgone on 6/29/26 at 11:06 am to IndianPower
I had family members that were in both WWII and Korea...and some in both Korea and Vietnam. I was born a year after Korea ended... Korea was a police action conflict for us because Congress never declared war. Also IMO, coming off WWII we started playing the political and media guilt game and we didn't want to hurt feelings...This carried over to Vietnam and wars and conflicts till this day.....If you are going to commit American blood to a war....go finish it by whatever means it takes.

If I'm on a plane that's going down and I have a parachute strapped to my back I'm jumping. Just like if I'm 50 stories up in a elevator and the cable breaks...Right before it slams into the ground I'm jumping up in the air...What the hell do I have to lose doing either?
re: Top 5 Offensive and Defensive Playcallers in the SEC (Analytics)
Posted by gladchiefisgone on 6/27/26 at 7:39 pm to Rrrrroger
Heupel is the play caller in Tennessee's offense. He would be better off having an an OC to call the game and Heupel manage the game. Which he's horrible at.

I think Huepel is underrated honestly, with Knowles as DC I think they'll have a really good season and a 9-3 playoff team is not out the realm of possibility
A true freshman or skinny redshirt freshman QB, neither with any experience will keep UT a middle of the pack SEC this season.
