Okay, sure. So we send our natural born American kids to break their backs working hard labor jobs while…

We import foreign workers to take white collar jobs and fill our professional schools on H1B and student visas and be our new upper class. Sounds like a great deal.

Well, the way it seems to me these days, both sides are being filled with imported labor.

Seems everyone who is sending their kids to college, is sending them for a worthless degree so they can ask me what coffee I want and the others are letting them post up in the basement all day playing video games.

^^^this. Let your kid do whatever makes him happy. Two of our boys did not want the office life. One did. All are doing great.

Altruistic or not...what he's saying isn't wrong. You can earn a good living without a college education, if you're willing to work hard and maybe get a little dirty along the way. I would submit the pool of college educated kids is getting too large, while skilled trades are suffering.

sounds like someone needs more people to solder circuit boards and QA videocard hardware.

Oh of course. Do I firmly believe he is speaking about this because it helps the AI data industry and computer chips industry? Hell yes.

Do I also believe he has a point regardless? Also, yes.

lol, is that what he told you at one of his $300k speaking events?

His tv show was all about literal ditch diggers. I've never seen a "skilled" trade featured.

I'd say it matters if you're yelling from the top of a mountain to go get a job that you yourself has never spent 30 years busting arse at or anything even close to it.

For some reason, tons of adult hetrosexual men are swooned by his deep surty voice.

Yea, i get the push for trades and all that. But these big CEOs are so far out of touch. They have really never tried to communicate via email with someone from a dumb state that never went to college. Some of these estimates i get from trade workers looks like something a 6th grader would write. And that's just for residential work. You want some of these guys bidding large commercial projects? It's just not as simple as they think it is, because everyone they interact with is tier 1 college educated.

What will be interesting to see is when all of the white collar jobs are gone

Most Americans will be gig workers in the near future. The great blue collar bloodbath of the 80s has now arrived in the white collar world.

i dont disagree either, just thought it was funny given where he's probably hurting on expanding his company; ...people to crank out the hardware.

My thoughts exactly. None of these fat lazy fricks work in the trades but they all act like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. I am actively trying to get out of plumbing because it has destroyed my body and now all the companies want you to be used car salesman. These threads get so old

There’s a much bigger problem if white collar jobs are gutted. Who would be paying tradesmen? Consumer spending would be a fraction of what it is now.
