Yeah. I had that happen on a call once, referred to a lady by calling her "Ms" and she said "Dr". She had a honorary degree from a small instate school. But she was proud of it.

He's 100% right.

The only people who demand to be called doctor are the people who get non medical doctorates

Caitlin Jenner just was quoted as saying " California has bigger issues than pronouns "

I guess that isn't the same case in North Carolina.

The lengths people go to to pimp a belligerent a-hole. Whether you take a non-clinical doctorate seriously or not, she did ask and he acted like a petty child regarding the request. He comes off far worse.

Also, a doctorate in public is definitely not equivalent to a fricking graduate music degree. I mean shite. You can choose a specialty track In epidemiology. I think it’s dumb to request it outside of her professional setting but I don’t care. Does calling her Dr. physically hurt this pussy?

He should have told her to refer to him as The Great One since that is what he wanted to be referred to...anything less would be disrespectful

I ask my students to call me by my first name.

I bet she’s an intolerable bitch to work with.

Does not being called Dr. physically hurt her?

I’ll call people by their titles in appropriate settings, but I don’t call people Dr. outside of those settings and the demand for me to use it is actually probably going to make me behave like this guy.

ETA: she’s a professor demanding it outside of education setting? Lolz.

I’m sure she’s a raging khunt, but it was a zoning board, and she was speaking as someone who has some level of expertise. Seems like an appropriate setting to use a title.

I have a PhD, like most at Cambridge. It’s embarrassing to refer to one another as Dr. No one cares.

Interviewed a young man who referred to himself as a scholar. I quickly pointed out that he only had a masters. People and their titles.

Yours is a funny point of view. Because the original controversy over the term “Doctor” was phony upstart medical people claiming a title that was reserved for those who completed advanced studies in philosophy or divinity.

The medical people we now call Doctors were laughed at and ridiculed as they made claims to the title. Now, people who are ignorant of the beginnings of the title “Doctor” scoff at the humanities for claiming a title that was originally theirs.

I don’t call anyone Doctor - not the individual who tinkers with my corpus, nor the one who studied Proust.

Yeah, that’s false. I’ve had medical doctors insist, well one at least.
