Older I get the less I care about people’s titles-doctors, reverends, judges, deputies, etc. especially if I’m not in their work place.
You’re lucky to get a Mr, Mrs or Miss.

I’m terrible with names, so I love titles. Much easier for me to remember what someone does for a loving than to remember their name

Not sure why the fact she's black has anything to do with the story, much less to be included in the post title...oh yeah, it's the OT.
I mean, dude was being a dick. She asked politely and he wanted to be a dick. Not sure why this is even a story. People work hard to earn those titles and in a professional setting, like a council meeting, they should be addressed by their professional title.
But again, it's the OT, so of fricking course "black woman gets volunteer fired for not referring to her as a doctor" is on the front page with 6 pages of replies.

How do you fire a volunteer? And why is the Zoning Commissioner even a volunteer position? Sounds to me like they did the guy a favor.

They may not demand it but there are a ton of police officers that get addressed by some version of their rank like Sarge, Cap. Etc. while off duty.
