The city owns/runs the upper Pontalba apartments and the Louisiana State Museum owns/runs the lower Pontalba Apartments. Both collect rent from the retail spaces below and the second and third floor apartments above them. On the city side I believe they also have converted attic apartments as well. The past few mayors of NOLA have kept one of the apartments for themselves.

Hate to say it but I don't think the recall will do anything. She has the whole "she's one of us and can do no wrong" thing going for her among black New Orleanians. Kind of similar to what people like Edwin Edwards or Ed Orgeron have with Cajun Boomers.
