It's an astounding number, but if not exact, it's in the ballpark. There was something crazy, like over 20 per day, having been stolen in the first 10 days of the year. I guess the pace has remained about the same.
But the good news is that the murder rate has really dropped in 2023.

It was reported last week that in ‘21-‘22 69% of violent crimes were reduced to misdemeanors or dismissed.
