Of all of the lack of prosecutions in New Orleans and the dismissed cases at the discretion of the DA and because of his mistakes, I must admit that this is the one that bothers me the least.

Wait, if they aren't charging you and holding your property, isn't that basically theft?

Carrying a concealed weapon without a permit is a crime in this state ! Also, I don’t believe you can carry even with a permit at parade gatherings.

Why is it that the Democrats on the one hand always demand more strict gun laws but Democrat prosecutors then refuse to enforce the very gun laws they wanted on the books. Someone explain this to me.

Punish behavior,
the behavior was possessing a gun at a parade, almost certainly concealed without a permit. that's against the law. plus whatever they were doing that caused them to be detained.

He's doing his new buddy Landry a favor. Can't have Landry be seen as anti-2A.

Did they commit a crime with said gun? Were they being belligerent? Or did the simply not have a piece of paper? If they had it open carried, would it have been an issue (I get the parade factor, but it's New Orleans. I don't blame anyone for being strapped.

I guess here you have a really liberal city that most would vote away your right to even have a gun in your house. But they are being slack on gun crimes.

Idk, it’s almost as if democrats just don’t have any standards or morals whatsoever.

Wasn’t the issue with Malik that he was concealed carrying? If that’s the case, I’m fine with the charges being dropped since they are ridiculous to begin with. You have a constitutional right to have a gun but you can’t hide it?

Now if it was an illegal gun, then charge him.

I got feeling there may have been some 4th Amendment infractions involved in discovering the guns.

you really don't think it's a big deal that they are refusing to prosecute people for carrying illegal firearms during mardi gras?

The firearm wasn't illegal.

The carrying was.

Very large difference.

I carry everywhere that's a higher risk environment. I'd rather take my chances that it is illegal at a parade route.

I know you probably think that's some sort of gotcha, but as a white guy, I really wish more people of all colors were armed.

Reading a few other threads it looks like police were scanning people without their consent or knowledge which presents an illegal search and seizure issue with no probable cause.

Object was probably just to get guns off the street.
