To say they’re cheap isn’t accurate.

I drive a ‘23 Ram 2500 Laramie for work and my wife has a ‘25 Yukon Denali. Sure the GMC is nicer but it’s also 20K more expensive. That doesn’t make Rams cheap shite though.

This sucks. I had a ‘97 Maxima and loved that car. It was a beast and very fun to drive.

I had an 06 Frontier that was virtually bulletproof.

When the new Frontier came out, I was interested in getting one. But those fricking assholes were tacking on $10k over sticker price during covid.

I bought a used full size pickup instead.

It’s kinda depressing to think about where we are headed from a car manufacturing standpoint. Nothing exciting coming out and a lot of reliable platforms are gone mostly due government mandates. Think about GM and what AFM has done to the LS engines.

Put out a 4 wheel drive Nissan hardbody with a 4 cylinder engine and a 6 cylinder upgrade. Price it at 17-23k

Maybe I am out of touch, it just seems like there is a ridiculously underserved market out there.

certain demographic purchases those cars, especially Altimas.

It’s crazy how accurate this statement is. There is a FB group here in Houston that is themed around Altimas, paper plates, and horrendous driving.

I have one of those (93') at the farm that rats ate the wiring and it was going to be too much trouble to fix. Good body, engine and transmission but I ignored it for about 3-4 months and they ate almost every wire off of it.

The Altima jokes (and stereotypes) write themselves:

Donut spares in use, missing license plates, missing body panels, horrific wreck damage but still in use; they all add up to my tagline:

Went new car shopping for the old lady a few weeks back and looked at all the different dealerships. Went to Nissan, Kia, and Honda. Honda pretty much is what it has always been. But putting Kia and Nissan in the same “class” is a joke. The only thing similar about them is that they both build vehicles. Kia blows them out of the water in every way possible.

The Nissans peaked with the Maxima/Xterra/Pathfinder age. Those ran forever

Peak Nissan Maxima SE.
A 3.0-liter V6 engine that got about 20mpg in the city.

My wife had a Pathfinder for a while. It was generally a reliable vehicle and she really liked it. They had a recall because the poly gas tanks were buckling and would short out the gas gauge probe. Their fix was to replace it with a shorter probe.

Fast forward a year or so, and the tank buckles further and shorts out the probe again. I get the Nissan dealership (Giles) to look at it, and they tell me that the tank needs to be replaced, so I ask if they think Nissan will cover this. They tell me that Nissan should, and I tell them to go ahead and replace it. Cost me over $1000, and all I got from Giles was a shrug of the shoulders. From Nissan, I got a response saying they were not responsible.

So I told my wife we will never buy from Giles or Nissan again.

Most 5-6 year old Altimas out there are missing parts,
I once saw a Memphis unicorn - an Altima with no damage and an actual license plate. I was amazed.

I drove one for 15 years, through college, graduate school, and beyond. One of my favorite vehicles, put over 200K miles on it. Sold it to a high school kid as his first car who was so fired up to get it.

I haven’t followed the car industry for years but my family had Nissans dating back to the Datsun 280z days and they were solid. It’s unreal to me that they are considered bad now.

It won't matter if they don't fix the issues with their transmissions.

To see a company go from the artistry and excitement of 240z Fairlady series to that Altima BS is spectacular.
