Mine was 8 days, he was a C-section baby with fluid in his lungs. Never any real doubt on survival but was scary some. I was also moved because there were some very small premies in the same unit and our boy was over 10 pounds. He was sometimes 10X the size of the baby next to him.

The first 3 weeks we were home my wife and I rotated sleeping so that one of us was always awake with our daughter. We were scared to death that she would have a bradycardia while we were asleep and we would lose her.

Youngest boy was two months early stayed in for a month and a half, till they were sure his lungs would hold up. Wife had emergency c-section due to pre eclampsia and her kidneys shutting down. He is 15 now..

My wife works in the NICU. It’s incredible that they can save babies born even at 21 weeks old.

Wife’s placenta tore at 27 weeks, 2 pounds and dropped down to 1 lb 14oz. Spent 90 days in NICU. Surgery to place a port because their wasn’t a vein big enough. Another to place the feeding tube. Came home on oxygen and monitors.

Son is 7 now and you would never be able to tell except for a 1 inch scar above his heart.

a device like an owlet is great to ease the mind early on.

I don't know what my wife and I would have done without the owlet. It gives so much peace of mind, especially since this was our first.

I strongly recommend it to new parents.

4 weeks due to bradycardia in the 40s. She never could make it the 5 days....finally got a doc to discharge us anyway. She was cleared by Stanford 3 days after discharge and we are living happily ever after.

The nurses and doctors have been nothing but amazing. I just wanted to read success stories. I know he is in the best hands.

I will say that it takes a person with a special heart to work in the NICU. What they do is beyond amazing.

It was the hardest time of my life. Hang in there and he will come home soon. I will say that when I moved into the room and started sleeping on a bedroll they discharged her quickly.

I asked about it and they said they don't recommend it because it isn't reliable and gives a false sense of security. But some nights I wish I had one.

Was born 16 weeks early at 1lb 11oz. Stayed in there for 16 weeks after birth.

Went back with my mom after high school graduation to bring a senior portrait for them to hang up so the other mom's going through what she went through could stay positive and the nurses there still remembered her. Thought that was pretty cool after 18 years later.

Born at 30 weeks, stayed for about 45 days. 9 months old now. The last couple weeks was the most painful. Only had bradies during feeding, just had to work with him on pacing.

Definitely get an Owlet for once you’re out.

My mom has been a NICU nurse for 35 years. She tells stories about kids that come back, either because they are now having babies or just to say hello.

She even gets Xmas cards from some. Pretty cool to know that she helped save multiple lives, and now those kids are healthy, normal adults.

My wife is at ~31 weeks with twins. Ready for them any day at this point since my wife is so small. We're prepared for NICU time since it's likely. Already have Owlets for when they come home.

First, congratulations on the birth of your sweet child!

My nephew was born at 25 weeks under 2 lbs. He was in NICU just under 70 days. Miraculously, he had no issues in NICU nor since. He was 2 in September. He’s small but a pistol. I wish you the best!!! Little people are strong!

My nephew is a miracle kid. Born 2.5 months premature. Was in Eugene Sacred Heart NICU for 5 weeks on a machine until his lungs developed.

He was 2.25 lbs and 19".

His dad and I are both 6'2" and he is 5'7". His mom is short but he's his dad all the way. Not sure if his height or lack there of was because of being premature.

Eta...hope all is ok.
